i know this is off topic, but is anyone from Joystiq going around the Expo Hall at the Austin GDC?
ECD is at booth #210 and should have announced the winners of their Indie Game Developer Contest. The finalists were posted online last week. I'm very eager to find out who wins, especially the student category :)
The panel included Shane Kim, Perrin Kaplan, and other local industry vets, talking about the state of the game industry in the Seattle region -especially during an economic recession. A lot of cool perspectives were shared.
i still disapprove, and i approve of disapproving. i also love this movie, and saw Steve Wiebe and the producers at a showing here in seattle. Nothing cool about it, just bragging :)
DigiPen students have made a few mods and levels for HL2, which are available in Digital Gallery section of the website. Most are just levels meant to run under Episode 1, some are mods to the game mechanics.
I highly recommend GrappleMod, since I helped make it, and because I think it's hella fun. We used it as a prototype for our fall game project.
