Z Corporation's ZPrinter 350 will create a 3D object of any color you want, so long as it is white

Oct 16th 2009 8:04AM (Engadget)
We've got one of these where I work. They do print in colour using standard HP cartridges.

However there are a few downsides:
1) It prints 10 layers per mm, and takes between 30sec-2min a layer, e.g. you start a job before you go home and it'll be done next morning.
2) After printing it's fragile, brittle and inside a cube of powder, so you have dig/brush/suck the excess away to get it out.
3) Infiltration. Once you've dug it out and spent time cleaning away all the excess powder you have to make it tougher. How depends on the powder used. If you've got one you just dunk it in water the put it out to dry. If you've got the other you have to pour/dribble/spray it in superglue, remove the excess and leave to dry.

It's cool, but not cheap to run.

Opera Unite: a cloud-based promise to 'reinvent the web,' again

Jun 16th 2009 4:44AM (Engadget)
It does let you set a password for sharing, but that is transmitted in plain text over the relay link, so while it should keep third parties out people shouldn't expect it to keep Opera out if they need to get in.

Opera Unite: a cloud-based promise to 'reinvent the web,' again

Just be warned that if it can't open a UPNP port on your router it routes all requests through the Opera servers with no encryption. So file names/contents are exposed to their system. Expect a demand for a content filter to occur sometime after launch.

UK deal: wireless adapter for £25

Dec 30th 2006 3:33PM (Joystiq Xbox)
Maybe in the states they're < $50.

Here in the UK wireless bridges start at £45 (about $80), and they're the cheap no-name ones.

Koei executive laments Revo's lack of hard drive

Feb 19th 2006 4:27AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
It's odd that they're complaining as it looks like none of the next gen consoles will have a HDD as standard.
The 360's is optional, and the PS3's seems to be 'sold separately' (only a HDD slot x 1 is mentioned in the specs on www.playstation.com).
