Beta Testing 101: How to stream your beta sessions

Mar 26th 2012 9:15PM (WoW)
Ideally you'll have a second monitor (it'll really open up your screen for playing). But I use DeskPins and just pop out the Twitch.tv chat window and overlay it in a corner as small as it can go.

Beta Testing 101: How to stream your beta sessions

Not to toot my own horn too much, but I have video playlists of how to configure XSplit (with Dxtory, a secondary streaming feature) here: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLC4EB95969DD9A280&feature=plcp

Most tips echo what Matt said in his post. It's meant for JTV/Twitch instead of Own3d though, but the principles are the same.

@kirrath - Use Virtual Audio Cables. It might introduce audio lag, but you can tell what audio you want passed through to the stream manually.

See me live testing Pandaland content on http://www.twitch.tv/kur1 if you're keen. ;3 EU early & Oceanic primetime hours.

The missed opportunity of 20-man raiding

Dec 2nd 2011 1:25AM (WoW)
I think the 25-man came about when they looked at their raid sizes and player distribution. It When you look at a 10-man, 50-60% of the raid is DPS. When you look at a 25-man, 65-75% of the raid is DPS.

They were probably looking at raid comps and player numbers and saw more DPSers in the game than any other role. So, recognizing this majority and avoiding squeezing out healers or tanks, they made more slots to accommodate the larger DPS player base.

With 25's, guilds are able to fit in a few more DPSers and more people in the game get to raid. If you cut those 5 raiders out of each comp, I guarantee you it'd probably be 4 DPS / 1 Healer or 5 DPS.

And those roles do not a raid make.

Patch 4.3: Hour of Twilight trailer

Go watch 3.3, 4.2, 4.1, or Ulduar's trailers. Then watch this one. You'll see why there's disparaging comments.

Patch 4.3: Hour of Twilight trailer

Nov 29th 2011 8:00AM (WoW)
Talk about a letdown.

- No voice-overs.
- No specialized animations done for any characters (they're all default animations, even the Thrall one using the Dragon Soul- it's straight from the final encounter)
- It feels like it was FRAPS'd from the game itself and patched together
- This is the final big-boss patch

Did their cinematics team go on strike? Come on, 3.3's was infinitely more awe-inspiring.

Blizzard's not talking about its unannounced MMO at BlizzCon this year, either

Oct 4th 2011 11:32PM (Massively)
@Deadalon I'd like to clarify the fact that they didn't "just" add 5 zones. They revamped the old world's geography for each zone, redid all quest chains in the old world, retuned dungeons, etc. Then they added 5 player levels and 5 new zones, along with 3 raids and heroic instances. I wouldn't sell Cataclysm short for content delivery.

That said, it does feel Titan is getting the lion's share of internal attention.
