World's luckiest video: guy wins a Wii from a crummy mall arcade game
Apr 3rd 2007 4:52AM (Joystiq)"The state of our youth"? American catchphrases? The boys are excited and you guys are judging them like if they were in church.
Thefunkyone, drop the holier than America game. We get it. Everyone outside the U.S. like to base stereotypes from what they watched on MTv and FOX NEWS.
Macross SDF-1, I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic. If not, then "retarded kids spreading their retard infection everywhere" sounds like your biography.
Everyone else, save for a good few, grow up.
How the DS does 3D graphics
Mar 28th 2007 4:39PM (Joystiq)If you're like me and you've never owned an N64, I recommend Mario 64 DS. It'll take up a lot of your time. I have yet to beat it for I am stuck on my last 2 stars.
Gangs get games for guns
Mar 28th 2007 4:25PM (Joystiq)Hopefully they won't skip you in the process.
There's a f'cking reason for most things. Gang activity is one of those things. Showing some kind of support for the community heals a little, although the change will be small.
And how come gamers always speak of natural selection as if that were all they tried to comprehend? A kid dies in a stupid way? Natural selection. Someone's sued? Natural selection. I pork someone's mom? Natural selection. Get original.
"Its funny because in this area they are doing this its probably easier to get a gun than it is to get an xbox."
Geez, you f'cking think so?
How to make a better Nintendo DS
Mar 23rd 2007 3:05PM (Joystiq Nintendo)Yargh! There be ROMS in these here waters.
"7) Let users toy more with the system menus. The DS has a stylus – let people draw and organize. Doodle avatars for Pictochat. Doodle wallpaper. Doodle borders for windows."
Awesome idea. I f'cking love it. I want to be able to REALLY personalize my DS. Not just by adding color bars and my name. No, I want wallpapers, avatars, and borders for my GBA games.
"8) Make real, native use of the Game Boy advance slot by offering a system update cartridge that incorporates all of the above features. And maybe also serves as a rumble pak, if there's room."
Wow. That'd be one hefty cartridge. Would you like fries with that? Maybe we should throw in the whole shebang and make the DS a pocket p'ssy.
The top five "traditional" DS games
Mar 23rd 2007 2:49PM (Joystiq Nintendo)I hope for the same thing. I think the early devs felt the pressure to use the full potential of the DS by slapping crap wherever they could. Most likely, this scramble was fueled by review sites commenting on whether or not the touch-screen was used. I remember reading a review or two wagging their finger for not using the touch-screen.
I have to agree with Fox regarding Mario Kart DS. At first, the second screen feels like filler. That is, until you are actually gaming hard and have to glance at your map every 5 seconds. It really brings in the much needed tension in this cartoony racer.
I do think New Super Mario Bros.'s second screen was a joke. If anything, they should of had a screensaver or some kind of distracting animation on the bottom. Maybe a quick access to the mini-games for when you're stuck in the main game (ha!) and want to chill. Turning off the bottom screen would of looked bad.
Yuji Naka not involved in any new NiGHTS game
Mar 23rd 2007 2:28PM (Joystiq)By the way, Sonic Heroes' team play was frustrating. I played it on the PS2 and the switching between characters needed to be assigned to the trigger buttons. Also, gameplay didn't evolve much since Sonic Adventure.
Nintendo in The Wired 40: Here comes a new challenger!
Mar 23rd 2007 2:18PM (Joystiq)"39. Nintendo's on their way back to the top, 80s style!"
And especially this one:
"40. But Sony is big and evil, and Nintendo is small, and neutral...
SWITZERLAND is SMALL AND NEUTRAL!!! Nintendo's more like Germany; ambitious and mis-understood!"
On topic, I've only played a wee-bit of Wii. I sense there is enough there for it to stick around but, as JSN clearly stated, most current games are gimmicky. And not the Trauma Center or Warioware kind of gimmicky, but the bad kind of gimmicky. The kind of gimmicky your momma warned you of.
But, like Myke said, the biggest winners are the guys who never had a Gamecube (me). In between days, I'll have a a sh'tload of games to play once I get my Wii. Kind of like those guys buying PS1 games, playing fl0w, and tooling with their PS2 collection as they wait to PLAY B3YOND.
Pokemon transforms DS into 'cell phone' for kids
Mar 15th 2007 7:16PM (Joystiq)Yeah but with the DS you will actually have someone to talk to.
I kid.
Anyways, this sounds cool although I find it pointless (and eerie) to hold and conversation while playing Pokemon with a stranger I traded friend codes with online. It's cool if you have friends with the same game though.
Nintendo says Sony has a "Mii-too" approach
Mar 10th 2007 3:44PM (Joystiq Playstation)I'm not a technical dweeb but you might want to think back a little further.
Wii is two duct taped Gamecubes and other publisher rants
Mar 8th 2007 2:16PM (Joystiq)No, it's not ART apparently. It can be fun but then it can't be ART. Nintendo forgot their arts when creating their Wii.
I'm fine with the Wii's current image as a fun console. I have several game of depth on my PS2 that I have yet to complete because I find myself playing spontaneous rounds of Namco Museum games, Sonic Mega Collection, and *gasp* DS mini-games.
"13. This seemed like a good time to post my new revelation about the Wii and the people who prefer it:
The 360 & PS3 are for people who like to waste time playing games.
The Wii is for people who play games to waste time."
I apologize for not being the same deep thinker as you, but I have to express my ignorance. So, the 360 and PS3 are for those who like to acknowledge that they are wasting their lives in front of a box of light whilst pushing on plastic and the Wii is for those who like to play video games while blissfully disregarding reality for the time being, correct? Then, if I want to experience an escape from reality to dive into a fantastical world I'm better off with the Wii since I wont be aware that I am wasting my time.
Nice f'cking revelation.
