Rock Band Weekly: Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks

Apr 8th 2011 5:20PM (Joystiq)
@Apakal There isn't anything wrong with more classic rock. In fact, they need to go a bit further back and get some more from the 50's and 60's. I want to play some Canned Heat, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, The Who, Rolling Stones, Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, Little Richard and Dylan.

Harmonix should just cave and go ahead and give us the full "Surrealistic Pillow" album by Jefferson Airplane.

@neoXmahi How do you figure that a Move version of Just Dance would sell better than the Kinect version, since Kinect has outsold Move by about 2-1?

Rock Band Weekly: Nine Inch Nails, Pro Guitar upgrades for legacy DLC

@libregkd I read in OXM a few months ago that the contract for the excluisve use of their music was up with Activision, and they didn't want to renew it. It was also rumored at the time that the first DLC to to come out after that is supposed to be the entire Master of Puppets album for RB.

It'd be really awsome to get some Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Buffalo Springfield, Santana, Little Richard, The Byrds, Mamas & the Papas, Joe Cocker, Canned Heat, and more from Joplin, the Band, and Jefferson Airplane. The 50's and 60's are the 2 greatest decades in music history and RB needs more songs from those decades!

Guitar Hero and DJ Hero DLC supply over after February

Your must be thinking that Rock Band is getting shut down, not GH. Harmonix has been the one to continuosly innovate and to make their franchise better while GH remained stagnant and just stuck with trying to play catch up. Harmonix will change nothing about their business model, which is to innovate and improve, but through updates and DLC, not by releasing a new game every year. Also, they allow for every single game or track pack on disc to be imported to RB3, except for Beatles, while GH expected people to buy one game, then when the next game came out, they would re-release some songs from earlier games as DLC that you had to pay even more money for. Activision only cared about money and greed, Harmonix cares about the actual players.

@Scuffles As someone else has stated, it's mostly for roster updates. The other thing is because EA has an exlusive contract with the NFL and NFLPA to use real teams and players, so there's no true competetion because the vast majority want to play with their favorite team and players. The same goes for MLB who has an exclusive contract with 2K I believe. As for Hockey, there isn't any exclusive contract with a certain company, but with EA, they've constantly worked to make the game better each year, and is usually considered the best sports game for the year. Also, simply because some people are flat-out idiots. Madden has only had 1 good game since Madden '06.

Halo: Combat Evolved remake coming this holiday

Feb 4th 2011 10:37PM (Joystiq)
@PR0F3TA To an extent, I agree that most games don't need to be remade. Games like PoP, God of War, Splinter Cell, Sly and others don't need to be remade if all they're doing is making them HD. That said, if they put full online multiplayer in the Halo redo, then it absolutely deserves to get remade. Halo 1 in my opinion still had the overall best multiplayer experience, and the only thing that held it back was the fact that it came out before XBox Live. Also, adding in 4 player campiagn co-op, and the allowing players to change the control scheme to however they want are pluses.

343 Industries adding 12 more positions for 'the future of Halo'

@i77ogical Your forgetting that CoD reaches the casual gamer way more than Halo. People recognize Halo, but don't play it because they say it's more difficult than CoD. For most people, especially those new to the series don't want to invest the time to become good at the game, so they take the easy road and play CoD instead because anyone can become good at those games after 10 minutes. Also, as others have pointed out, there is a much more crowded market of games for people to play online, which also takes away people from Halo. As a "veteran" Halo player (I've put hundreds of hours into the universe ever since CE came out), Reach is overall the best game of the series. It has the best campaign of all the games, with ODST right behind it. As for the MP, it's second best only, in my opinion, to Halo:CE. I personally still love the MP for CE, but Reach is right below. The only thing I don't like about Reach is the way they do the rankings, because they went the CoD route and made a players rank irrelevant.

As for 343, I think they'll make a great Halo game as long as they don't try to release it this year.

Rock Band Weekly: David Bowie

Finally!! Some great songs by an awesome artist, but we could use MORE! In the next Bowie pack I'd like to see Changes, Rebel Rebel, Diamond Dogs, Jean Genie, Heroes, and Ashes to Ashes.
