Sony vs Nintendo in the motion sensitive arena

Oct 28th 2006 5:29PM (Joystiq)
"What's really puzzling is that Sony isn't able to (or unable to, due to the Immersion lawsuit) make both the vibration and the motion sensitive technology work in their PS3 controllers. It's been seven years since Pelican packed this technology into a PS1 controller and both work. Seems like technologically they'd be able to make it work come November."

The problem isn't with the Tilt. It's with the accelerometer. Rumble can interfare with the accelerometer.... and when you're playing Warhawk you really dont want the game picking up any wierd signals due to the rumble... Of course it's possible to isolate the differening signals but that's just going to add another 10 bucks (rounded up ofcourse) to the cost... which probably doesn't include immersion licensing fees.

That PS1 control doesn't look to have the accelerometer so that would be a "ThreeAxis".... Not up to par with the SixAxiS

Can you guess what game is playing in 1080p? -Read which looks better?

One is a third party port from a system that only(currently) supports 720p

And the other is a first party(kinda second party) game made with the PS3 in mind?

I do like the fact that the interviewer stated that its not the amount of pixels on the screen it's what you do with them...

PS3 controllers: play and toss [update 1]

quote "the report goes on to say that this might have to happen every time the controller loses power -- read is turned off or the charge dies."

Ok first of all... "is turned off" is entirely a joystiq interpretation.

And secondly... Where is the Sixaxis off switch? I have never heard of it before... it makes sense that it would have one.. i just haven't seen it.

thirdly If the joystiq interpretation doesn't hold true then that would mean that you only loose the connection when the battery dies... Which in effect is that so unreasonable?

I currently have had a sony walkman mp3 player with a lithium rechargable battery for 2-3 years.. And it doesn't have an off button. The closest thing to off is suspend, but it still keeps enough charge to keep the song and time that i left last. Is it so hard to believe that the controller has a similar suspend function where it keeps just enough charge to keep the ps3 bluetooth link?

A couple other little hype material in the commercial.
- The sign (F) on his backpack looks like the spider man font 3 for most of the shot.
- When the boy grabs the railing his index finger tucks under the groove and his other fingers slightly leaving only 3 full fingers showing.
- And going the extra mile, His hand is shaped like the Spiderman font 3 for the same scene (italic)
- Right after that shot he takes exactly 3 steps to the next shot.
- ummm there are 1117 clouds in the sky Llol... maybe not.

Is there a way to get Xfire to jump on tips earlier?

I submitted this tip minutes after the press release went online...

I just assumed you guys didn't think it would be good news..

Do I have to put something special in the Subject line?

Sony moves a step closer to junk; outlook "negative"

Hmmm with just alittle bit more research I found out that Toshiba has been down graded to a 'BBB' rating. I suppose that is less than sony's 'BBB+' rating..

Is HD-DVD in danger of destroying the whole company. I doubt it. Same with Sony.
