Miyamoto on retirement and the Wii's innovation

The man's impact on the genre cannot be understated, but damn, what a position to take. He essentially writes off games like Portal, Bioshock and Mass Effect because they could all arguably fall into the category of "who can come up with the most violent depictions." His statement seems to imply that violence and fun, or violence and artistic expression, are mutually exclusive. In any medium, that simply isn't true.

Not isometric, then. Whatever word you want to use for it, the point remains. Ninja Gaiden, Genji, and Devil May Cry all have similar cameras, where it's pulled back and angled awkwardly. Making matters worse is when the camera switches halfway through a jump (which will probably be the case here, since it appears to be fixed cameras) and you have to reposition the character in midair. I might be wrong, I hope I am. But looking at that trailer, I'm not impressed.

Gee, it sure is Ninja Gaiden around here.

The platforming in particular looks very awkward, with its pulled back, angled camera. Isometric view + precise jumping = big no-no.

I think I will purchase this product now, merely because of that animation of the guy making the 8* face while SLOWLY tilting the controller around. If someone can make a .gif of that for me, well, that'd be just swell.

I know loads of people who play games on the PC, and I struggle to name even a SINGLE one who doesn't have an Internet connection. And with a rare exception or two, none of them buy any games. It's almost a rule. In fact some of the very young ones ridicule you for actually spending money on PC games.

But by your very reasoning, people shouldn't be allowed to connect to the Internet because there is a rampant piracy problem on PCs as well. There's a vast array of uses for both platforms, just as there is an abundancy of people willing to abuse them. You can't just issue a blanket ban on one tool that people will use to cheat and cross your fingers and pray it will solve the problem.

And clearly the best solution is to simply ban them altogether.
