I will compile a ton of it and put together a huge retro convention called "Physical Fair." Or maybe not. o_O

WayForward's new IP is DSiWare's Mighty Flip Champs

This person has it correct. This sounds exactly like that game. Now if they throw in Cotton-esque side scrolling shooter levels.. it WILL be the spiritual sequel to Wendy: Every Witch Way.

Obama and McCain face stiff competition

Jun 16th 2008 1:10AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I love how people buy all that Obama states.

Go watch "The War Room."

Everything Obama has ever said in his life is taken word for word from the 1992 Clinton campaign. Right down to "hope" and "change."

Obama's Patriot Employer Act would cause a surge in job loss.

His idea of raising capital gains taxes would do damage that could not be repaired to the economy. He even admits that it would, but still wants to do it.

His idea of getting America out of Iraq involves sending them into Pakistan instead. A much larger and better armed country.

McCain's 100 year statement is only part of a sentence that elaborates on the idea that we should stay even after the place has "normalized." Which is exactly what we are still doing in Japan, Panama, South Korea, Bosnia, and Germany. If we had stayed in Germany after World War 1, we could have prevented World War 2. Staying after fighting has become back page news is a valid and intelligent strategy to prevent future conflict.

Saying that we should leave immediately is the exact opposite of positive change. Imagine if, after the set back of Martin Luther King Jr. being shot, the entirety of the black community in the United States decided to just pack up and leave the country; instead of staying and continuing to press on. You do not quit when you have a chance to evoke change.

The shirt is cute, I guess.

Back onto Iraq though, we are still in Iraq without extreme progress because Obama and his ilk are too lazy and stupid to do their part. Normalization of a place depends on two aspects and only one of those aspects is doing its job. The equation is simple, so simple an idiot like silver spoon-fed Obama can understand it.

Drastic Shift + Gentle Reassurance = Normalization.

The drastic shift is the US military action in Iraq that ousted Saddam. The Gentle Reassurance is the liberal side of the US system coming in with social programs, charity programs, rebuilding programs, et cetra. In fact, the major charities are ignoring the idea of helping people in Iraq out. They instead would rather focus on jerking themselves off to Zeitgeist or the latest Naom Chomsky book. We have people like Habitat for Humanity FORECLOSING HOMES instead of mobilizing people and volunteers to help rebuild Iraq, China, et cetra. Right now, a massive window of great opportunity is closing for Obama and his ilk. We have troops there who are handling violence. While they handle violence, why not go in and offer HOPE and CHANGE for people who could really use it after thousands of years of despair, torture, and poor living conditions.

That is what pisses me off the most. People who talk and do nothing but talk. Which is what Obama is. A bunch of failed ideas that did not work for Carter, Clinton, or Bush Sr. In short, Obama just stands for Obsolete Banter And Minimal Action.

Live-action Turok movie in the works

Jun 11th 2008 10:16PM (Joystiq)
I own the animated movie. It's violent, and closer to the original COMIC BOOKS than the games. Thankfully.

But yeah, Turok is an old franchise from like 1954...

The science fiction space junk from the games was never a big part of the original comic series. I would rather prefer it if the live action film was closer to the comics and DIDN'T have any time travel, cereberal bores, or other superfluous stuff.

I don't need talking alien dinosaurs. That isn't really what Turok was about.

Send in the cosplayers

Wow.. most of the picks they picked as the "best" are lame.

That Travis Touchdown is nothing compared to the other one.

Anyhow, here i a Flickr account with over 400+ pictures from A-Kon 19. Lots of video game cosplay there. Also, a little red squid.

Yes. Go to it.

Cinematical Seven: When an Animated Series Goes Live Action ... and Gets it Right

May 12th 2008 2:40AM (Cinematical)
There's a ridiculous amount of Japanese animated films that ended up with live action cartoons.. so it would be within the interests of the article to point those series out as well. Considering this was sparked by the Japanese cartoon Speed Racer being made into a live action film.

Successful Japanese animation to live action films would be Boogiepop & Others, Cromartie High School, and Great Teacher Onizuka.

But yeah, the list is iffy. The inclusion of Super Mario Bros. seems odd because at best.. you could say it was based on the cartoons that were based on the games?

The mention of Josie and the Pussycats was a good one, and I'll see that one and raise it Alvin & The Chipmunks, and Sabrina The Teenage Witch. Hell, I'll up it further and say that Casper: The Friendly Ghost was a pretty good cartoon based movie.

What gets me is that some cartoons which really would not make decent live action films are getting tapped. So, we have Dragon Ball Z coming.. but not.... ROBOTECH?

Hell, where's VOLTRON? Space Ghost? Johnny Quest?

We'll probably get a live action Sonic the Hedgehog movie based on the "SATam" version of the cartoons or Denver: The Last Dinosaur before we get a proper cartoon movie like.. say.. a "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" movie. (Yeah, she had a cartoon.)

Hell, the great hopes may be the Avatar: The Last Airbender trilogy of movies. Hell, I would watch a live action "Totally Spies" over the cartoon it would be based on. I would really enjoy a live action Oban Star Racers movie. Especially if it moved at the clip the series does.

Greenpeace: Nintendo is nonresponsive

Apr 5th 2008 8:14PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
When you work with Green Peace, you have to pay them money to get their logo on your products. Essentially, this is like Sony saying that Nintendo is failing their "Blu" rating by not including Blu Ray in their consoles. Darn it, Nintendo! Send me your money because you are failing my Philip rating! I don't see my name anywhere on your products! I demand that you step up your talks with me!

Also, global warming is not the result of anything scientific. It is the result of our belief that nature should adhere to our calendar system. Because, when it says it is SPRING on a piece of paper on our wall, it damn well better be Spring. If I write SUMMER on a piece of paper and stick it on my wall, it better suddenly be warm and Summer-y outside! Because if it is not.. that must be the fault of major corporations not sending me money!

Writer's Guild of America announces nominees for game writing award

Jan 16th 2008 2:20AM (Joystiq)
Of course well written games will be excluded as the WGA is a shoddy union. Unions serve some purposes, they help keep corporations honest on overtime, rally to get better health coverage, et cetra. Then there are unions that sue or threaten a strike for double profits on free internet downloads in the hopes that they can eventually raise union dues.

The WGA is absolute crap. The people on strike right now should say: "Forget this union, I'll go back to work, and instead... join the Animation Guild."

Focus on new firmware, PC Store and UMD movies part of PSP future

Jan 8th 2008 5:22PM (Joystiq Playstation)
People complaining about Slim only features forgot that this is a business where PS1/PS2 games do not work on all PS3s, GB/GBC games do not work on the DS, and it's impossible to plug NES/SNES/N64 game paks into a Wii.

In short, buy a slim, or go without features.

Also, I thought it was kind of cool to download PSP movies off of select Blu Ray discs... then I remembered that there are DVD releases currently that do the same thing for the iPod and the PSP. (Die Hard 4 for example, and a ton of hentai releases.)

So, it's really nothing new.. just Sony claiming innovation from other companies ideas.
