Das Keyboard Professional hits US retail stores

Nov 11th 2008 3:55PM (Engadget)
One problem, it would get dusty if you didn't clean it. While that's not that big of a problem with USB's large contacts. It would be cool if it had a flap that would cover it like some keyholes or like the memory card slots on a lot of game consoles.

That's a good idea, though.

Android to get touchscreen keyboard soon-ish

I agree. I little vibration upon every key press is better than the annoying clicking that the iPhone has. Whenever I'm typing on mine I always flip the mute switch.

Nissan's Nuvu: electric, cartoonish

Oct 2nd 2008 8:26PM (Engadget)
I feel quite safe in my mother's MINI Cooper S. Just driving it, you can tell that its stiff frame and excellent handling characteristics could well be used to avoid an accident, assuming an attentive driver. It also has enough space between the front passengers and the bumper to absorb crash energy. The doors are quite hefty and strong, and there are side impact airbags, of course. It is the car I will be learning (to drive) on, and I will drive it most of the time. I think that licensees should have more training than they do, and my parents are enrolling me in a safe driving course run by a professional driver that in fact races MINIs.

Also, to comment on this car, I think it will have a tough time keeping itself cool, warm, or condensation free in a varied climate like a large portion of North America. That huge window will certainly not stay in the production model. Just sun coming through the window will stress the already low powered A/C, and the lack of insulation and IR reflectivity from the lack of a hard roof could be a problem.

Eee marketing getting adorably bitchy

that touch pad is definitely NOT 170% bigger. The people at asus need to learn math. It might be 170% AS BIG, or 70% bigger. DUH...

AMD debuts dirt cheap ATI Radeon HD 4550, HD 4350 graphics cards

If you use HDMI, it says there is 7.1 sound support. Otherwise, you could just put a connector that goes from the 3.5mm jack in your sound card or motherboard to RCA jacks (L&R). Some sound cards and mobos have S/PDIF out also. (Thats optical out)

Smartparts busts out 32-inch SP3200WF WiFi digiframe

Sep 23rd 2008 8:12PM (Engadget)
Um, anyone ever hear about Smart Parts, you know, the well established paintball products company that has a significant market share because of their inexpensive electros? Anyone? Knowing Smart Parts and their crazy lawyers who want to sue the heck out of anyone they can, I'm surprised that they haven't sued this company for trademark infringement.

PSP phone mod is really exactly what we were waiting for

That looks like a pretty useful thing, and axing the UMD drive is fine, considering all of my friends that own a PSP use the Memory stick for everything (os, games, movies, music)

You cant call it a Strat unless it has the Fender headstock. It is only strat-style

Tesla Roadster takes 30 hours to charge from a standard wall socket

holy crap: 220v and 80 amps?? Thats more than 17000 watts. Thats really a lot of power on one circuit. I mean, I live in a house with 3 floors, and thats more than a quarter of our total capacity of 300 amps. Does the charger come with its own split system cooling system?, cause its gonna make some heat if it uses that much.

Imagine asking an electrician:
" Sir, I need you to install some 4 gauge wires in my house"
" What are you doing down there? Growing a pot farm?"
" No actually its for my car charger, I have a pretty peppy electric car"
" Huh, youre gonna get pretty peppy when your electric bill comes in too"
