Xbox Live 'FIFA hack' concerns continue to escalate, Microsoft states Windows Live ID not compromised
Jan 4th 2012 12:27PM (Joystiq)I am not saying your wrong, but people do lie and Microsoft would be a big target for people to smear. You have comments but do you actually have proof or just hear-say? We have no idea if the issue with the EA servers too.
I am not defending MS, they are big boys and can take care of themselves, but the way the internets go, they can climb on something without all the evidence and proof as well -- so I am not claiming that you are wrong, but I don't the follow up and actual investigation on your side either.
I believe everyone would like to see more facts than just opinion or speculation because with every story, there is bogus pile on and there is some truth.
Review: PlayStation Vita [updated for US launch]
Dec 29th 2011 1:24AM (Joystiq)Stops the pirates and you will stop the proprietary HD. When someone from Sony testified in front of Congress this year they said they loose about 1 Billion in the USA and about 4 billion world wide do to piracy. Much of the money of the those pirated games goes to drug thugs including feed the cartels in Mexico or other terrorist organizations (if you have heard the DOJ ads on TV and Radio lately) -- not only does the proprietary items help stem corporate losses, it is also stops a major source of money to many drug lords and terrorist organizations.
And before you go on some corporate greed romp, some of that money also goes to developers and to pay the salary of some coder.

Dec 29th 2011 1:17AM (Joystiq)> out of an effort to subvert pirates or just because of poor execution
This is as stupid as the UMD disks.....any wonder why its sales are behind even in Japan. Its too expensive, its too proprietary and too gimicky!!!
They had a second chance for something cool, and looks like they blew it. The N. American version should have better launch titles, but will that be enough?
Editorial: 'I'm tired of saving the world'
Dec 28th 2011 4:53PM (Joystiq)Even Allen Wake was different in the way described, it did not sell!! Epic Micky was different, again little sales. Alice, again no sales.
Given the budgets needed to make a title, they are going to stick with formulas that work. -- Thus, we have BF 3, GW3, MW3 and Rage -- Skyrim and the Oblivian universe is RPG with FPS elements.
When you can put together one craptablular FPS after another and people eat it up, why bother? You would think that the generation that grew up on Atari and Coleco and Saga now in their 30s/40s would eat these types of title up! Nope! The audience is too small and gave development costs money and nobody is going to take a risk right now. When the developers who developed Limbo thought they were taking a big risk and the fact that we have seen another Psychonauts type of game of the next gen consoles tells me there is no appetite for these titles.

Dec 12th 2011 2:57PM (Joystiq)Here are the winners of the 2011 Spike Video Game Awards
Dec 11th 2011 9:37AM (Joystiq)It really is no different than any other award program on TV be it movie, film, daytime or video game.
It is a popularity contest and really award worthy stuff never wins because the only purpose of these awards it to keep the money train running on already popular items not to really raise awareness or award great achievement or for upping the level of the art.
Its all BS and its why I don't watch nor could give a cr*p except as a passing glance.
