It wouldn't be a big deal, if he didn't use that as his argument against someone else. But instead, by scrutinizing someone else, he opened himself up to the same scrutinization, and was therefore allowed to be mocked for making an invalid point.

The movie just used "The Last Airbender", but it was actually Avatar before Avatar was Avatar.
