I am a huge BioWare fan, Dragon Age is good but it isn't as good as many claim. The game is about an 8 out of 10. IGN and Gamespot game it a 9 or 9.5 which is a little too much.
I also do not like how they are handling DLC. A Dev himself said the latest DLC will cost 5 bucks (cheap enough) but then he also goes on to say it can take as little as 30 minutes to complete this DLC patch.
So you get 30 minutes - 45 minutes of content for 5 bucks?
The first DLC was 7 bucks for a non-repeatable keep. Now it is 5, at the early stage we set the price and how much content is delivered for the price.
Hopefully we aren't fanboys and accept things like 30 minutes of content for 5 bucks.
The only problem I see is PvP balance, because BioWare really doesn't have experience in terms of making games with PvP. The rest will be pretty much aweseome. Basically all current MMOs will look and feel dull after the release of TOR.
Ideally the perfect time to release TOR would be Q1, 2011 when most of the WoW population get bored of the Cat expansion.
SWTOR will change the MMO industry. They could have taken the easy way out by doing text based quests with lack of story. But they wen't above and beyond that. It is amazing that each class will have a unique voice story that is said to be 200+ hours. They also say no two quests will be alike in terms of shared between classes.
Today we said devs that have grinding in their games as "content" are lazy.
After SWTOR we will call MMOs with test based quests lazy.
I believe in BioWare. There are three gaming companies I know are top notch, Valve, Blizzard and BioWare. But to me BioWare is above the other two in terms of innovation and content.
We are programmed to rush to max level because of bad content in low levels. SWTOR will change that. Mass Effect is such a great game that is SWTOR is close to that, I am a happy man.
The importing feature is great and I look foward to it. As someone else said you have the option to do it, if you like. You don't have to.
How awesome would it be if an NPC in the game comes up to you and remembers something you did. Or is angry at you for an action you mad in ME1.
The only problem is many people forget the minor choices they made in ME1. Which is why I believe BioWare will only recall he major decisions you made.
And the same story will hold true for ME3 to end the trilogy.
