judging by the screenshots, it'll be a simplyfied but in no way dumbed down 2D editor that will numbercrunch translate-compile your layouts into proper source engine 3D rooms.

maybe you'll be able to 'rotate' between 4 isometric/orthographic views,
cause as @drunkingamebar says; what a nightmare Hammer is even on reasonably fast machines.
Making portal 2 on such archaic toolchains earns them some kind of award in my book.
