Phew... Thanks.

I must have missed that article.

Joystiq Top 10 of 2011: Shadows of the Damned

This list better not end with Sword and Sworcery in the #1 spot. Multiple blogs have already put that in their top spot, and it's driving me crazy.

Sure, it's unique and something special in the mobile gaming space, but it is nowhere close to the best game of the year. I had plenty more fun playing other games that wouldn't even appear on my top 10 list.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary supports 3D TVs

@Jenks

Pretty good actually. Thor was never filmed in 3D (it was converted in post), so that's a bad example, but even in the best 3D movie, the effect can be pretty subtle because they have to accommodate all the different screen sizes.

In games, usually, you can tune the effect in for your own personal tastes and screen size, which usually gives you a much better 3D effect.

I personally like playing games with it on (I bought a 3DTV almost exclusively for games), but I could totally understand why some people dislike it.

Got some beef jerky from the in-laws (Seriously). And an awesome knitted Sackboy from my brother-in-law and his wife.

Luckily someone else (Myself) got me a 50" Panasonic VT20 or my Christmas would have been mostly a failure.

Sony 'applying 3D' to over 20 internal games, more than 50 on the platform

@Misfit Toy I already tried the 3D Rift demo and it's pretty good, but I prefer WipEout. I think it's something to do with the scale. The 3D effect makes the Motorstorm cars look like toys.

The one reason I prefer 3D gaming to 3D movies is due to the fact that the effect can be customized to your screen. When a 3D movie is downsized from the big screen to a 50" set, the 3D effects seem to get squashed along with it (especially with movies that saw an IMAX 3D release). However in gaming, if you assume that your gamer is sitting roughly 6-8 feet from the TV, you can use their screen size measurements to maximize the depth and really take advantage of the full effect.

I did find that almost all of the games currently default to having the 3D effect turned down to 10%.. Crank this value up if you are underwhelmed by the 3D-ness.

Can't wait. Since I was just in the market for a new TV, I made sure I got one with 3D as I'm not really in the habit of buying a new set regularly. WipEout in 3D is an amazing experience, and I'm looking forward to which other franchises jump on board.

Power Gig: Rise of the SixString review: God took rock 'n' roll from you

"well, it plays about as well as you'd expect a $180 guitar to play. Which is to say, not well at all."

The fact that this is a crappy guitar is in no way related to the $180 price point. There are plenty of entry level guitars at that price that play perfectly well for most people.

Move sales around 1.5 million in Europe, 300K estimated for US

So what you are saying is that we can completely ignore the 300K estimate since it was invented from the mind of an analyst with a terrible track record.
