Wii U controller has a DS-style touch screen

The mother of all PlayStation Vita trailer posts
Jun 7th 2011 5:59PM (Joystiq)I want this to do well because I'm a PS3 owner, and having invested a good bit into that system I'm all for a handheld that can both extend the value of my PS3 and act on its own as a solid system. Since I have a crap-ton of Minis and PSOne games from PSN+ I already know there's the benefit of being able to play those on another system. However, that's not enough to get me to drop $250. The hardware is good enough to do amazing stuff with PS3 connectivity, I'm not curious to see if there's actual follow through.

Jun 7th 2011 1:44PM (Joystiq)The odd thing is that if this pans out things might flip a bit. It used to be that the 360 and PS3 were basically the same thing in terms of third party design. Now it's looking like the PS3 and Wii U might have most of the same features - with the Move / Vita possibilities being optional, but still present - while 360 Kinect might have the most exclusive stuff.

Jun 7th 2011 1:22PM (Joystiq)I'm also surprised that they didn't tweak the 3DS design a bit more to make it so that it can basically act as an extra tablet. We're already hearing a bit about cross functionality between the platforms, but having a firm plan that makes the portable usable instead of making players shell out cash ($100+, I'm guessing) for second bigass tablet would be a good call.
Also, beyond the tablet screen size, what can this tablet do that the PS3 + Vita theoretically can't? Serious question here - I'm wondering how many of the extra features for third party Wii U games will also end up on the PS3 via a Vita connection, and how much Sony is pursuing that crossover.

Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD footage shows the PSP Remaster polish
May 23rd 2011 12:06AM (Joystiq)I hope Capcom is on board heavily with this. I'm enough of a Mega Man dork that I would love to get Powered Up and Maverick Hunter X. The Power Stone collection would be nice, too.
The GoW stuff seems to be all but confirmed, too, which is great. I thought of picking up a PSP just for those, but playing GoW on a portable screen just seems like a weird concept.
