EA is fixing these issues found in the Battlefield 3 open beta

Oct 2nd 2011 3:10AM (Joystiq)
@Lemondish I canceled my Final Fantasy 14 preorder during beta since the game had many issues from Alpha till Open beta (which i was a part of all the way through). why you may ask? because the game was going to get released maybe a yr or more before it was completed. And guess what, the game is still being fixed after a yr and 1 month almost of launch. And it is still free to play also. so in reality the game has been in beta for a yr and 6 months really and counting (counting when alpha started). I was getting the CE which i believe $85 back then, so canceling my preorder saved me all that money.

I am not saying BF3 is going in the same path since I am preordering the game 2morrow, I am just saying some betas are better than others, especially when the company listens to player feedback, unlike how FFXIV feedback was being brushed off

GameStop intentionally removing Deus Ex OnLive coupons from retail PC copies (update: GameStop statement and legal outlook)

@(Unverified) it is not just with this game man. My local gamestop has been opening brand new sealed games for years now. It is really stupid that they do this. All the other big retail stores do NOT do this. I used to work at Circuit City before they fell, we didn't open new games, Best Buy doesn't either, as well as Walmart, as well as P.C Richards, as well as Toys R Us.......you want me to keep going? lol......Gamestop is THE ONLY retail store that does this

i smell a lawsuit coming along. Gamestop has been opening brand new games for years now and selling them as new ($60). Why do they open new games hrs, or even minutes when they have possession of them is beyond me. They are the only retail store that does this, I really do not get it. I went to buy a PC game from them a few months ago, and as we all know PC games come with cd-keys, the "brand new" PC game was opened, I asked if they had a sealed one, i was told all of them are open. So I didn't want to take the chance of the cd-key being used up, so i went across the street to Best Buy and bought it there nicely sealed.

Big changes (and one bighorn beast) afoot in Final Fantasy XIV

May 24th 2011 11:00AM (Joystiq)
@Dalrint i just bought a CE last week for $25 at a local gamestop. Last time i played was during the betas. I wasn't too happy with the game then so i didn't even bother playing at launch. (cancelled my CE preorder 1 week before early access went live) But since i started playing last week, i been having fun!!

New producer's letter planning for future upgrades to Final Fantasy XIV

the last time i played was during the betas. i was a beta tester since alpha went live and played through open beta. wasn't too happy with it, so i cancelled my CE preorder 1 week before early access went live. but, i saw a deal at my local gamestop for CE for $25!! That's a steal!! So i ended up buying it, started playing i think it was this past Tuesday or Wednesday and so far i am having a blast!!! The fatigue/surplus system is still there but it seems like it will get removed, as well as removing physical levels since i see no point in even having that.

New Xbox 360 update incompatible with some models, MS offering replacements [update]

@Da Mr did you even read the article? it clearly states some consumer consoles won't be able to read some retail game discs with the new update. if this happens to you, THEN and only then will they replace your current XBox360 with a Slim. So if you go buy an XBox right now and you get the update and all your current games and new games work with no issues, then you just wasted some money......

Final Fantasy XIV still playable for free, monthly fee 'still out in the open'

Apr 2nd 2011 11:26AM (Joystiq)
i hope they get the game up and running to what it was suppose to be on launch day. it is crazy to me that they didn't listen to the beta testers at all and now that the game finally got released, NOW they decided to start fixing it. I was in the beta all through since alpha went live but no improvements and lack of communication between players and testers made me cancel my CE 1 week before release day. what was the point for us testers still bothers me, lol. but i have a feeling they won't start charging monthly fees until the ps3 version is released, whenever that may be.
