RedEye turns your iPhone and iPod touch into bona fide universal remote (video)
Dec 13th 2009 3:51PM (Engadget)Any professional design these days would want to use USB instead of parallel, since modern computers actually have USB, but that's not going to raise the cost of hardware from $12 to $188.
Even for the advantage that this thing doesn't need a computer, I can't justify the price. A Game Boy Color, which I bought for a buck recently, with a maybe $20-40 wireless receiver could do this job very well.

Aug 18th 2009 9:44AM (Engadget)Why back in my day, before we even HAD polygons, I'd leave my SNES on for days until I could reach a save point. It never gave me a single problem until my brother spilled something on it. Not even N64 or PSX, let alone anything newer, has been so reliable. (Damn N64 cartridge slots get so loose they're as bad as NES after a few years.)

Aug 18th 2009 9:41AM (Engadget)Wii: shitty software (not the games, but the OS and etc that *should* be running under them.)
With one you get failures. With the other you get no possibility for future expansion because the software is designed poorly. Pick your poison.
I won't even get into PS3.
