May 31st 2011 6:09AM (Joystiq)The big point on the video is multiplayer gaming via Xbox Live and the phone, they also don't show the Kinect integration which is going to blow peoples minds...

Oct 17th 2007 12:23PM (Joystiq Xbox)I was on the fence with this title as well. I couldn't be happier. It's pretty amazing on the 360. I would have to say "The Orange Box" is the best title on the 360. I'm not one to gush over games, but this one is certainly worth. I haven't picked up Halo 3, since I got it.

Aug 9th 2007 8:20AM (Joystiq)I'm well aware the govenrment didn't get involved with the Imus issue. I'm also very aware once CBS started losing sponsors and the hoopla came from the presidential candidates, the CNN Press, MSNBC, and whatever "Liberal Free Speech" outlet spoke out against him that's when his axe fell. I'm not agreeing with what he said, but honestly, in the context in what it was said, it certainly didn't sound that bad, it was an "off-color" comment (pardon the pun)and that was that. Good 'ole Hillary took advantage of the issue and spoke at Rutgers over it, if that's not opportunistic BS I don't know what is.
The Imus thing is important simply because it has to do with censorship. The following week XM suspended Opie and Anthony over some idiot comments they made, they are supposed to be free of that kind of treatment, it's uncensored radio...supposedly. They have a billion dollar merger getting into place...so you can't have that kind of press. Even though it's supposedly free radio.
As far as the violent video game law. I'm all into free-speech, but you have to regulate what children are exposed to. I watched "Inside Man" last night, it was the perfect scene. The 9 year old kid playing 50 cents videogame on the PSP, the bankrobber, asking him why he plays it, then saying "I need to talk to your father about this game" It was perfect.
I certainly don't want my daughter playing GTA when she is 7, that won't happen either. I do feel the ratings system for games is plenty enough, but there has to be education on the parents end of things. It's another issue that people rely on the government to tell them how to act and behave, I can guarantee half of the parents or more, have no idea what the "kids" are playing. I don't think the goverment should step in and say, you can't buy this. Quite honestly, some pimple-faced 16 year old geek carding people at a videogame store isn't my idea of fun. Should there be some sort of system regarding M or AO rated games? Yes. Should the government decide what it is? No. Should the parents be able to decide? Yes. I don't need the government telling me when I can allow my daughter to play violent videogames (if she ever gets into games).
At the end of the day, it's what you make of it. For instance: You have "Jackass" from MTV then along comes Break.com I don't know if there is a correlation there, but...I can't deny the fact that it's a pretty big coincidence. So the nay-sayers that say things on TV, Movies, or Games don't effect the youth of America...well, I can't help but to think that it doesnt.
@ Garrett
Because I am a Libertarian, doesn't make me a pot smoker, I can't say I never tried it. I never inhaled though. That website is rediculous by the way, pretty funny but rediculous. I simply believe in our rights to choose what we do with ourselves and to not have the government deciding for me. Of course there are laws and such, and fiscal responsibility, but I feel our founding fathers wrote a perfect doctrine. Why change it now for ones personal gain? Becuase the self-interest lobbiests are telling you to? Bah.
Vote Libertarian!

Aug 9th 2007 12:26AM (Joystiq)I don't understand how people around here get their political views. You actually want to be controlled by a group of people who tell you how to live your life. The last I knew it was America, I certainly for one don't want any jughead politician telling me what doctor I have to see, what TV or radio station I have to listen to, what schools I have to send my children to, what Internet sites I can visit or not, giving my taxes to people who don't work and live off the system, I don't want that kind of bullshit government.
All the free-speakers around here need to realize, that the "Democrat Liberal" way of thinking is becoming a very socialistic viewpoint. I certainly hope people realize it. Because the PC days of Clinton were just the beginning, and honestly if that bitch wins...that's 20+ years of two families controlling our country. That's pretty fucked up in its own right, and a totally different topic altogether. Vote Libertarian.
