Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi trailer is full of yelling and punching

Sep 9th 2011 12:54PM (Joystiq)
I like DBZ games but the music always seems off for me. Granted, I grew up with the FUNimation dub so I'm used to Mr. Falconer's music.

Incidentally, I have yet to decide on which box set to buy. The FUNimation box sets includes the Falconer music fulfilling my nostalgia but the Dragon Box is almost complete in NA and are considered "true" box sets and those look mighty fine. But then they'll most assuredly release Dragonball Z Kai in box set form (not the volume form currently out) and in Blu-Ray nonetheless. They're too many ways for me to give Akira Toriyama my money and I only want to pick 1.

Does this mean they won't sell any more steamworks games? What about retail BF3 for PC? I believe that requires Origin which is also a digital competitor.

FIFA 12 cover athletes revealed, screaming tradition continues

Since I mostly player career mode as a player, and FIFA 12's career mode seems to have been morphed into manager mode, I'll happily skip FIFA 12. Hope they keep improving it though; will take a significant peak at FIFA 13 once Impact Engine/Career mode has been finer-tuned.

Until then, Football Manager, or as I like to call it - heroine - will keep me happily occupied.

FIFA 12 cover athletes revealed, screaming tradition continues

@EDZiLLUH Agreed. Hernandez on the cover was a no brainer. May have been contractual issues or even simply Ferguson discouraging he do it (like he did w/ Ronaldo 'cause he was a youngster).

Star Wars: The Old Republic collectors edition revealed [update]

@Mr Tambourine Man WoW had something similar with the Celestial Steed. They generated a finite amount of keys to be used. The beauty is that they can always generate more.

Stayed up until 3AM to guarantee myself a Collector's Edition. I was successful. Mountain will run through my veins this morning.

The Daily Grind: When have changes overwhelmed you?

Jul 8th 2011 9:48AM (Massively)
NGE & the CU were definitely unsettling but that never stopped me from playing both heavily. In the last few game updates they've released, many of their mechanics have become grinds.

Collection System, Rare Loot System, Beast Mastery, Chronicle System. They extended gameplay by having extremely long grinds associated to them. The Chronicle System is probably the biggest perpetrator.

If you want to build a quest, you need to kill the mobs you want to be used in your quest. I can't just design a neat little story arc which takes a long time on it's own. I need to kill Tuskens for a few hours to make sure I have enough tokens to build a quest involving the slaying/looting of Tuskens.

Most collections involved looting 10 or so pieces from specific mobs but at least one of those pieces is extremely rare. Most slayer collection (space and land) involved killing a huge number of sometimes very hard to find mobs.

It would take 3 days to make a beast from scratch due to time barriers. Even with all the parts you needed. If you wanted a mutation, good luck because even with the right combo, you had a small chance of getting that mutation.

The game became grind, after grind, and it felt like a grind. Hoth is still fun to run every now and then if you can detach yourself from the token grind.

Mike Morhaime: Real names will not be required on official Blizzard forums

Jul 9th 2010 3:46PM (WoW)
@Lissanna

I suppose the quantity would have significantly reduced on the official forums.

Going to play devil's advocate a bit: Nothing was really stopping that from happening in the new forums, anyway. Nor was it stopping it from happening on other, non-blizzard controlled forums. Real names stopped individuals, yes, but other people would have constructed feedback anyway.

The 50,000 posters that said no in the one thread (but honestly, I feel it was significantly more amount of people disagreed) amount to ~.45% of the subscribers. Granted, that's $749,500/month lost if all those people cancelled so it was a significant business move and a smart one. All I can say is that Blizzard has a lot of players.

As for voting stuff. I'm guilty of voting up stuff I like; not whether it's constructive or not.
