I also had problems registering at first. Had to resend my activation code and it worked. However, now I can't download the game.

Highly unlikely, unfortunately. Pretty sure Monkey Island will be going down as well.

Several community members have the source code for Legions and have been working on a stand-alone client. IA was going to announce this today, but instead announced their closure.

The future of Legions isn't really known right now. Work could still continue on Legions if the company decides not to sell the IP and just give it to the community.

Massively Exclusive: Hi-Rez talks Tribes Universe

This could go either way, honestly. I'm excited for a new Tribes game, but nailing down the skiing/physics will be a battle. I'd really like for them to listen to Tribes players regarding this aspect, and not so much higher level GA players.

Feature: A quick history of Tribes

InstantAction's CEO, Louis Castle, stated just 2 months ago that PlayTribes woudl absolutely return during a PAX interview. He seemed pretty damn confident, too. So it'd be pretty odd to see PlayTribes canned.

Just a really weird, out of the blue development that caught be off-guard. Nice to see Tribes is getting another chance, though.

InstantAction CEO: Game retail 'headed for a disaster'

Jul 13th 2010 9:15PM (Joystiq)
@ouenwoof

I had that same thought earlier. Facebook, like MySpace, will eventually fade away. Relying on their service and it's userbase is silly, because it WILL eventually fail. But that isn't really an issue for InstantAction because they can implement their service anywhere on the web. So if PeopleNetwork.com became the next Facebook, IA could simply transfer over to that network.
