Police not violating 4th Amendment by placing GPS on your car when it isn't in your garage?

Aug 30th 2010 9:46AM (Autoblog)
Here's my problem with this case... The idea that becasue the vehicle wasnt in a garge means it isn't subject to expectations of privacy despite the fact that its privately owned property on privately owned land (personal driveway)

If a fence was erected around the property encompassing the driveway within its borders and the vehicle was parked in the driveway, within the confines of the fence but still NOT in the garage, the expectation or privacy still isnt valid because it was in plain view and not in a garage?

I dont buy that at all.

If the vehicle was parked on the street, then i'd say... okay. but even then I'd think that tampering with a suspect vehicle is shady as hell.

What if the suspect was innocent and he found it? The lawsuit would be huge and capitol hill would be in an uproar over "Big brother watching" and "Hello Dave... " would be all over the place. Does the fact that they caught some dime bag dealing idiot with a Pauly Shore complex make it right?

Where does it end?

Why not just cut the gas line on a car to prevent a potential suspect from leading you on a high speed chase? Yes thats extreme, but I think its the same considering the preumption of innocence is gone once they use measures like tapping a freaking gps reciever to your vehicle.

I feel so guilty though.. Tell ya what. I'll put up the answer to some of the tougher ones and if there are a few that get stuck i'll thow up the cheat sheet.

Stargate: Bottom left of screen. Bill Gates with a Star on his chest (that was a pain in the ass for me)

Halo: To the right of Bill Gates on top of the christmas tree

Popeye: Old man with the white beard and white hulk hogan haircut and the eye dangling out of his head on the upper right area of the map by the football field

RType: The big Letter R with arms on the rooftop typing 'RRRrrrrrrrrr'

Happy hunting.. it was actually pretty fun lol

*digging through PS2 library*
You're absolutely right. I thought Sierra did a really good job with that game so even if Prototype uses the Hulk engine with better visuals(hopefully) this could make for a really fun ride.

Btw, if you haven't tried Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, I highly recommend it. It's fairly old now so you should be able to find it pretty cheap.

I don't know about dull, but repetitive I can believe. For some reason i'm getting a Spiderman 2 and Hulk Ultimate Destruction vibe. Besides the fact that they both used sandbox style gameplay, the character animations and attack "combos" look very similar to Spidey 2 while the massive damage to the environment is suspiciously Hulk like.

It just feels too familiar.

Generally companies like eVga, BFG Tech and my favorite XFX, sell their cards overclocked with a warranty. The differences between them can be cosmetic (different plastic or cardboard covering the fan), functional (different fan designs based on the amount of overclock) and occasionally software packages. For instance, when I bought my graphics card (XFX 7800GS XXX edition) it came with 3 games and had a higher clock speed than eVga and BFG. In this instance I see no significant difference between eVga and BFG so I would go with whatever is available.

And yes I think BFG is very good.

Update on 'Dark Knight' Viral Sites

I'm guessing that since Heath lived and died in New York it would be "unsavory" (distasteful if you will) to bring a viral campaign regarding his character here. Though being a New Yorker myself, I would have loved to participate.

UPDATE: Apparently Newegg IS selling some for $329.99. 5 different companies including BFG Tech and eVga.

Potential Newegg/Engadget conspiracy to pull the wool over our eyes on THIS day of fools? Maybe not..
