Microsoft responds to claims of Xbox 360 hard drives storing old credit card info

@(Unverified) Not just policies, but regulatory requirements. Agreed that it sounds dubious.

Team 17's Worms Revolution coming to PC and consoles, built with new engine

Mar 30th 2012 11:51AM (Joystiq)
Hard to tell for sure with those quick cuts, but that looks like they added back more of the fuzzy physics that I hated in some of the modern worms games (bouncing off corners unpredictably, sliding when it feels like you shouldn't). I hope not. Also, I really don't feel that it needed a new engine so much as new content, instead of releasing the same 10 levels under different names on different platforms.

I'd say I'm fed up and not going to buy it, but odds are I probably will. I'm a sucker for worms. :)

Assassin's Creed 3: Rebuilding a series during the birth of a nation

@copa I don't either, but honestly I wasn't paying attention until after the game was out and people were raving about it. I think the same was true for a lot of people - the first game was largely a sleeper.

Anyone with a little history under their belt though would know the time was ideal for intrigue and backstabbing.

Assassin's Creed 3: Rebuilding a series during the birth of a nation

@(Unverified) They kind of tried to go a similar route with the boss characters, but it didn't work very well since there wasn't much technique to it. I'm guessing in this game the presence of so many guns (and in tighter formation, not the scattered guards like in revelations) is going to help, in that it will require more situational tactics to clear the enemy without getting popped.

Assassin's Creed 3 multiplayer comes from old studio, new lead designer

Mar 21st 2012 6:24PM (Joystiq)
I'd be curious to see if they could work some form of co-op, because honestly the shine has already worn off the normal multiplayer. It's neat, but i just didn't feel the need to play it that much. I don't see that changing. If it's going to be the same I'd rather they leave it out and focus on the single player, and better stories for DLC.

Tales of Graces F review: Comfort food

Mar 16th 2012 11:10AM (Joystiq)
I really wish the timeline of the release of this game would have led to it coming out on the Vita instead of the PS3. It would be great to have a nice JRPG on the console already, and the graphics would have been a better fit.

Mass Effect 3 director defends DLC, endings with 'common sense'

Mar 14th 2012 6:14PM (Joystiq)
@SirUrza You underestimate the power of sci-fi and the magic reset button. I know which you are talking about, and there are a couple other sci-fi series that have recovered from the same.

@Mechazawa Prime The most likely scenario is that they had the character built a long time ago but not the story, planning him as a DLC character all along (same was true for Kasumi in 2, there were placeholders, but no content). Then they decided to get another team (and it was another team) to try and finish the content for the collectors edition, which makes sense, and fits with the different feel of the mission. Then because they knew it would be a stickler point that it was in the Collector's edition but not available to others, they made the content available day one so normal players could have it when they started the game if they wanted, or pick it up later when the price drops.

... And you also notice that shortly after the availability of the DLC as a separate download was known, Amazon added a $10 promo to pre-orders? I highly doubt that's a coincidence.

I think it's true that it was always planned as a DLC, I just think processes leading up to release ended up with them shooting themselves in the foot publicity-wise.

@UnverifiedUser I agree, it's overpriced for it's size, but it is an interesting DLC, and it is story-tied enough that it should have been included if possible.

I bought it simply because I found out that it was the only way I could get Slam as a bonus power, and after using the heck out of slam and enjoying the evil-giggle-worthy fun of it in 2, it was a no-brainer to have early in the game. :)

@Misguided Terran The commentary coming from the twitter feed has had me wondering about that too. Seems unlikely, but at the same time a few of the replies to comments about meanings to the ending have been too winkwinknudgenudge to not think there's something else going on, either a pre-existing plan, or one forming based on feedback.

Quite a gamble to take if so.
