@Startbuttonnews a lot of reviewers said the truth: It's a really cool concept with mediocre execution. I played it recently, and I realized that the level design gets in the way of the game way too much. Overall, the perfect game for a sequel. It had a cool idea but didn't really push it.
@TheHyphenator graphics aren't everything. Look at the load times for the consoles compared to pc. No amount of optimization is going to cut the load times to what they could be with 4 gigs of memory.
@Kougeru I agree with you for the most part, but I have 4 main problems with Origin: A) The friends list. It isn't handled very well, and there's no way to add "recently met" people. (As far as I saw, maybe I just missed it) B) The privacy policy is less than appealing. C) The Steam Sales are amazing, and Origin isn't even trying. Instead of getting us to use their service by being the best, EA is trying to force us into it by having their games exclusive on it. D) Localization. I don't live in the U.S.. and even though a few games on Steam are unavailable in my region, it's way worse on Origin. The prices are higher in my region (and in all of Europe) than the U.S. With physical copies I can understand shipping cost, taxes, etc. But what Origin does is unacceptable. That's why I'm going to stick with Steam.
I know this is semi-related, but I was always kind of annoyed withthe Mass Effect games because they give you choices but only reward you for going all-out angel or all-out satan. I played mostly paragon, but when it came to a decision that I wanted to go the renegade way, I didn't, because I knew that it would hurt my character. Sure, I didn't HAVE to make that choice, but I think it's bad design that the game pushes me to make decisions based on my character and not my judgement. The one game I think ME could learn a lot from is Heavy Rain.
The different between Steam and Origin: Steam is such a good service you'll find yourself thinking of buying games you didn't plan on getting. Origin is such a bad service you'll find yourself thinking twice before buying games you planned on getting.
Dear game publishers of the world: this is how to combat used game sales. You don't like people reselling your games? Make it worth our while to buy digitally or keep the game. Not with underhanded online passes and crap like that. Aside from that, cool, but not cool enough to make me forgive them for the ridiculously overpriced necessary memory cards...
I love these games. And to make sure I don't spontaneously begin murdering people, please, everybody, it's JAK and DAXTER. Not Jack, not Dexter, and definitely not Jaque and Doctor
