Sony announces $10 PSP games, PSP Go deal

Jun 2nd 2010 11:27AM (Joystiq)
actually piracy had a LOT to do with the PSP's shortcomings... developers don't want to make games for people to steal..considering the PSP is easily the most pirated system i've ever seen it makes complete sense that developers would stay away.. games sold great to a point.. then the rampant piracy began.. bad decisions? thin library? get a clue... the issue was obvious to everyone with half a brain.. google PSP games and see how many sites that come up are legit..

Best of the Rest: Justin's Picks of 2009

that's why context is ever so important.. your first 2 quotes that you listed were in the first paragraph and pretty much nullified by the next paragraph... i didn't selectively pick quotes to skew the review, i picked the ones that best summarized the overall tone of the review.. this is the first part of the review with CONTEXT.. none of it implies disappointment. the rest of the review follows suit.

"Killzone 2 doesn't come with a gimmick. It couldn't be easier on the eyes, but if you're looking for something outside of aesthetics that quickly sets it apart from the bevy of other first-person shooters on the market, you're not going to find it.

In its first few hours, in terms of weapons, enemies and narrative, Killzone 2 designer Guerilla Games seems as if it's constantly making the most generic choice possible, and honestly, it was enough to put me off at first. Nearly every Helghast is the same perambulating black blob with red eyes and every weapon feels like something you've played with before.

But, as I would discover in the following hours, what it lacks in bionic arms and guns that shoot portals, Killzone 2 makes up for with expertly refined shooting action that's likely to shame most of the genre's titles you'll put in your console this year."

sounds pretty positive to me.. i'd expect a lot based on this review.

sounds like you haven't even touched the game to me... everyone including Justin in his own review touted how tactical the game is.. that's not even debatable really.. and that 2005 trailer was known to be a target render since it came out.... Guerilla themselves even said that at the time..

oh rly? as opposed to going to a 3rd person view when you're in cover? yeah, that's realism..

as i said, it's a SQUAD shooter.. of course the squad AI is a little better.. but that aside, if you notice i specifically said FIRST PERSON cover system in my first post.. no other FPS has done that that i'm aware of..

i wasn't aware that Rainbow 6 Vegas had a FIRST PERSON cover system. in fact i played them both a ton and i'm quite sure they don't.. and yes, they're a bit more tactical in some regards(they're SQUAD SHOOTERS they're supposed to be) although the enemy AI isn't better than K2 in either one..

hahahahahahahahaha.... Justin actually was the one who reviewed K2 from this site..

taken from his own review:
"But, as I would discover in the following hours, what it lacks in bionic arms and guns that shoot portals, Killzone 2 makes up for with expertly refined shooting action that's likely to shame most of the genre's titles you'll put in your console this year."

"Once you master the game's distinct, well-balanced weapons, you feel a real sense that any situation can be conquered if only you can find the right strategy. After I got the hang of the combat and realized I would have to bring brains as well as reflexes to each scenario, I couldn't wait to see the next way in which the game would test them both."

"Between great mechanics and being a visual treat, Killzone 2 should be easy to recommend -- and it is, to those who are willing to put the time in to discover all its charms."

sounds like a real disappointment.. :| :| consistency is always nice.. especially from the same reviewer..

killzone 2 on the disappointment list while 50 cent:BOTS on the top 10? this may be enough to shatter joystiqs review credentials for me forever.. and for those who say Killzone 2 didn't do anything new, how many FPS have you played with a first person cover system? not to mention this game is infinitely more tactical than every other shooter its been compared to, with much better atmosphere and AI to boot.. its amazing how fashionable it's become to hate K2 again.. it was hyped with a CG video, people bashed it, it came out, people praised it and critics heaped tons of great reviews on across the board claiming in many cases that the game had met or exceeded the CG trailer... now almost a year later and most of Joystiqs editors seem to think that it was a bomb.. its like bizarro world

yeah, it's amazing how many people suddenly think it was crap just because a few bitched about the controls not being like COD.. nevermind the 9s and 10s across the board in the reviews, not one mentioned any issues with the controls. obviously they all got it that it wasn't a twitch shooter and didn't try to play it as one.
