Capcom on the hunt for Street Fighter X Tekken hackers

Mar 19th 2012 9:41PM (Joystiq)
That's almost as ballsy as making finished game assets available only via DLC.

We should come up with another term for this sort of thing, because no content is actually being downloaded. How about something that sounds really corporate...RGC. Revenue Generating Content.

Star Wars: The Old Republic hits a million players, 28 million hours played

Dec 23rd 2011 8:13PM (Joystiq)
@BrianZeluz

Yes, you get quests and kill monsters/enemies for xp like most RPGs. There is team play, but you don't have to do any of that if you don't want to. Each class (there are four classes for each side, eight total) has it's own storyline, and the quests involved in that storyline are designed to be done on your own. There are also special group quests and stories that you can do with a group, from two to four players. There is a cool group mechanic during story scenes that allows each player to try to affect the conversation/story if you are in some of those group areas.

You can fight other players either in the PVP battlegrounds (only 3 maps for right now) or out in the contested parts of the galaxy (if you are on a PVP server). You can't permanently die. If you die, all your equipment takes damage, which costs money to repair. You can resurrect at a medstation nearby or wait a little longer and have a medical probe resurrect you on the spot.

I highly recommend the game, especially if you enjoyed the KOTOR games. I've only done a little of the group stuff, because even though it's an MMO, I tend to shy away from grouping with random people. Still having a blast though.

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon review: Old dogfight, new tricks

Oct 11th 2011 10:54AM (Joystiq)
Considering my copy of the game just showed up (thanks Amazon!) I'm pleased to see it getting a good review. I own every Ace Combat game ever made (including that horrible GBA...thing) and honestly, you don't play them for realism. You play them because they are fun. This sounds like a lot of fun.

X-Men Destiny screens leaked (a bit too early, by the looks of it)

Jan 17th 2011 7:01PM (Joystiq)
The images didn't appear much different from those that were in the latest issue of Xbox Magazine. The main character shown is one of three, and yes, he really does look that lame. And he (along with the other two player character choices) will be X-Men canon.
