DICE doesn't want to charge for Battlefield:BC2 maps; EA can't comment

I hope EA realises they can keep the fans happy rather than create a mob by going against the will of the original developer.

PSA: PS3 Firmware Update 3.21 available now

Apr 1st 2010 3:00AM (Joystiq)
I wonder how many people that are upset about this even plan to install Linux in the first place? O_o

But I get it, that's not a valid point. Most people feel like something they've paid for is being taken away. Sony is doing this in order to remain more secure from PS3 hackers (though it seems it's already been hacked...).

The retro-style Linkin Park iPhone game you've always wanted

And what difference does it make if you say it? At most you'll have some people who nod their heads in agreement and tons of spamposts saying you suck. At the least you'll have... Well, what is written here right now I guess.

Mapathy explained by Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package promo

Mar 25th 2010 2:46AM (Joystiq)
But when compared to the awesomeness in updates to Burnout: Paradise (not comparing gameplay but update content), Modern Warfare 2 seems like it just doesn't give a crap. By the way, isn't it possible that if you're suffering from Mapathy you've simply spent too much time with one game?

Metareview: Metro 2033

I know that most of them are linear, but most of them retained the illusion of freedom. This one doesn't get there until half-way through the game. I think that's why a lot of people has it on their minds.

See... there was this release of a game called Final Fantasy XIII which was linear and...

Codemasters' new FPS, Bodycount, announced briefly

O_o They made quite the statement there. Think they can keep their word on that? Ultimate shooter... sounds a little too good.

WRUP: GDC incoming, Battlefield veterans left behind edition

Mar 6th 2010 3:41AM (Joystiq)
I've been playing Dissidia: Final Fantasy for a long time and reached my 200 hours yesterday! Looking forward to reaching the 500 hrs mark. The game is absolutely outstanding, especially when you start facing people online through services like Ad-Hoc Party or X-Link Kai. I've received around 40 friend cards so far and I'm looking to reach 100 in not too long.

Review: Final Fantasy XIII

Mar 6th 2010 3:22AM (Joystiq)
I just had a thought concerning everyone who hates every other famous Final Fantasy but their own personal favorite. Maybe they feel like they need to tell everyone that their FInal Fantasy is better, convince them because, otherwise, it would be like their Final Fantasy never really mattered. As if no one else is/was able to see its greatness? It always bothered me how there are these civil wars inside the Final Fantasy fanzone. :-/

Review: Final Fantasy XIII

@FlipFlop

I don't know about EDGE being biased or not, but I do believe they went into the game with a level of anticipation and expected something in particular from the game. This could have led to disappointment and therefor bias in the form of "this isn't what I wanted/expected".

Either way, I enjoyed my first 15 hours, knowing full well that the game wasn't going to be very open. However, I would also call people who take only the worst reviews as the "truth" as biased or at the very least thick-headed.

It could be that the EDGE reviewer didn't go in with any anticipationa and simply had a very dull experience. Either way, I thoroughly enjoy the game. Have a great weekend!
