Skype launches SMC Wi-Fi Phone Package
Nov 15th 2006 5:01PM (Engadget)Will it be possible to associate a MAC address with one's FON account?
I have already tried using skype with a public FON access point *without* logging in and it doesn't work.
Knowing that Skype is a big investor in Phone, they should allow Skype to register without signing in, that would be very useful.
oh well let's just hope they wake up and leverage their network and allow the Netgear SPH101 to register as well.

Sony Cybershot DSC-H2 reviewed
Apr 7th 2006 6:03PM (Engadget)And for Nikon, I digress but CaptureOne may be cool for now, but I like to keep my options open.
I am not sure I followed your point regarding Canon's lock-in; sure you don't have F-mounts, but I can still by Sigma lens can't I? Not sure I am getting your point here.
People thinking about a Sony H2 are in the market for a digital camera. I don't think a Nikon F2 will cut it for them, although it is an excellent piece to learn the ropes (actually should be enough for just about anybody).
Back to my original argument, people looking for a $400 digital camera should consider Canon's S2 or a used Digital SLR (if they don't mind the added bulk).
Before the make up their minds, I highly recommend that they go read the reviews and most importantly get a feel of it in a store even if they order it online later.
30D, nothing personal, just trying to have a sound argument. No need for bashing.

Mar 16th 2006 7:56AM (Autoblog)I guess even Lotus is not exempt of physics laws and that as "sexy" and innovative this trhee weel desgin may look, it doesn't hold a candle to 4 wheels when it comes to stability in corners.
No wonder they expect the US to be te main market, these are people who drive at 55mph and have never taken a bend.
A lotus elise with it's full 300Kgs more can probably run circles around this POS when it gets twisty.

Netgear WiFi phone for Skype: no PC required
Jan 4th 2006 7:13PM (Engadget)They probably have some flavor of embedded linux running on this thing. Jsut like they do with all their Modem/routers.
Thank you Netgear for bringing me the device that wll allow me to go completel without a landline and ***yet** keep a lanline number so my cheap-ass friends can ring me. (I live in Europe, and calls to mobile phone are 20X the cost of those to landlines, so forget about living strictly off a mobile here).
