@Bigjerms

You can get it now for $9000

However it predates 3d 1.4 hdmi, but has a "3d data interface".

HP adds EliteBook 2540p and 2740p to the lineup, brings the power and the touch

Mar 1st 2010 8:19AM (Engadget)
I have the 2730p and it is great and meets rugged military specs for great durability, anyone looking for a go anywhere tablet/notebook pc won't be disappointed. Better cpus and touch are a great edition to this tablet. I was very impressed by the extended battery and docking solution. With exception to gaming and direct sunlight visibility, Its hard to beat.

HDMI 1.4's 3D spec publicly released

@SNESimon

The reason for active glasses is cost and ease of implementation. Soon 120hz+ tv's should add 3d compatiblity at least as a option, if the costs aren't too costly, it should just be a matter of adding a 3d hdmi 1.4 component and IR/wireless transmitter to sync the glasses. Glasses should be a option for those that want to use 3D and should come down in price over time.

I'm planning on getting one once they get down to a reasonable price, not to use 3d right away, but to get a tv with a high refresh rate and be ready should 3d become mainstream.

ITG xpPhone gets a price, more pretty pictures

It is quite big see video, might still be pocket sized but not comfortably.

I really want a affordable pocketable full pc, the technology is about there, I wanted a oqo but it was to costly and I looked hard at the viliv s5, but want a hardware keyboard. This might fill the gap, hopefully they sell it with out the cellphone module, I hate paying for something I won't use do to high data charges.

Pure Oasis, Sensia and Sirocco 550 internet radios hands-on

Jan 10th 2010 8:58AM (Engadget)
I've been considering the $120 chumby one, after adding a good pair of speakers to it why would I pay more for limited function internet radios vs the chumby? Crosses fingers on a new chumby release with a thinner photo frame form factor and a bigger screen.

Vu1 Corporation sees bright future for ESL light bulbs

"What is the products rated life (how many hours will it operate)?

Vu1 bulbs are targeting to last 6,000 hours - about the same as many CFLs."

Microsoft still hot for white space, describes WhiteFi wireless tech

Hopefully they can succeed in doing this, it is a lot of work and will require a high level of technical research to bring it to market but will be worth it to bypass the telecom blockade.

If only the gov't leased the old tv spectrum out or sold parts of it to many companies instead of selling it to the highest bidder who will sit on it just to keep competition out. But that's our government they want instant money now and don't care about the long term future.

iHome's iHMP5 headphones double as lackluster portable speaker system

I'm going to guess the amp won't work unless it is rotated to the outward position, not just for obvious reasons but to avoid getting sued for hearing loss.

Toshiba's capacious 64GB SDXC card sampling this December, thrilling next Spring

Aug 4th 2009 4:45PM (Engadget)
I find sdhc and sdxc really annoying, the original sd had limitations for a reason with sdhc they should of known people would use more than 16gb. They should of had a more open standard like usb with mass storage that is probably infinite in the future. I'm willing to bet that the original sdio system could do this, too bad sdhc cards were not built on this.

Yet another ploy like hdmi to get us to buy new stuff?

Bungie says Halo: Reach is its last Halo game, working on new IP with new publisher

Jul 24th 2009 6:57PM (Joystiq)
I'd like to see a Halo RPG set on a world crawling with covies, flood, and human outposts. Like fallout or mass effect, still having the option to switch to the fps mode we all know and love.

Use of natal for interaction and voice recognition would be cool if it could be as natural as talking to a character in the holodeck on startrek. If it is too limited and more of a nuisance and should be cut, I doubt speech and gesture recognition are quite there yet.

I'm hoping Reach will be a FPS RPG mix.
