@TheDarkWayne and @MontEdZuma you guys are right, it definitely does suck, and it is mentally and physically exhausting, but it's part of the job. and there is no way they were pulling 100 hours a week the entire time of development. If they were actually, I take that back, that is insane. but if they did that for a week or two, thats just part of the game.
As an architecture major, all I can say is: shut up. you know how many hours I work near a deadline? over 100 hours a week, I can promise that. You are doing a job where you sit around code on a computer. You generally work easy hours, but when a deadline comes up, you need to just put your head down and complete the task ahead. You may not like it, but its the job you signed up for. Clearly they are "ex"employees for a reason.
This is so not a big deal, if we were talking factory workers working in a dangerous environment for 100 hours a week or any other job that requires you to be alert so that you don't hurt yourself or others, then yeah, 100 hours is too much. But the fact is, they are sitting on a computer typing and what not. Hardly strenuous.
This can't be real, at most they are pieces from some ipad prototype. this is a step back design wise, the iphone 4 adapted its design from the ipad, why would the ipad then go back and adapt the design of the iphone 3g/3gs? doesnt make sense to me... then again, maybe the plastic is for better reception? plus, who would be taking pictures from the back of the iPad? I get that the iphone uses the rear camera for facetiming, but with the ipad, its so unnatural, the way you would hold hte two is different, the ipad you would rest in your lap or on something, where as you would hold the iphone... if this is real, i would be surprised.
I think the main problem was that Schmidt gave his PROTOTYPE iPhone to his mistress. thats a pretty bad thing to do, and if I ran a company that prided itself on secrecy the way apple does, I would be pissed about that also. Anyways, I'm sure this is only a part of the story, if it is even true at all.
Why can't it just be full OS X... I dont want a giant iPod Touch, I see no point in it. Sure it would be pretty cool to run existing iPhone/Touch apps, but lets be real here, most of those things are cool cause they are being done by a cell phone, most computers can do all that plus WAY WAY more. I think this thing will be a failure if they dont implement a fully working OS X, though maybe with a Front Row type thing to optimize the Tablet qualities.
