@sys3175 Well most people don't take into account TCO and instead just compare the "cost" of the phone itself, disregarding the fact that the $200 iPhone is subsidized by the carrier, AT&T in this case.
When the cheapest monthly payment was $70 for voice and data from AT&T, if you do the math and add $200 to buy the phone, plus $36 "setup fee", over 2 years, it would cost $1916 to buy and use an iPhone. That's a lot of money, too.
