Well for those of you who think this is normal, then I presume you also think its is ok for the 360 to overheat too?? No, lets get this clear, this is not OK.. With the amount of vents that the PS3 was pictured to have, this shouldn't be happening.. I guess that means that we have to get a laptop cooler/PS3 cooler for this console as well.. It is understandable that it is overheating, since you do have this thing outputting 1080p at 60hz, I was hoping that the extra vents compared to the 360, that it would not overheat; wishful thinking on my part..
Well I own this unit and I have to say that it really does an excellent upconverting job over HDMI for both VHS and DVD. VHS is inherantly crappy, but this dual recorder does an excellent job of upconverting the video.. The recording capabilities from VHS to DVD and/or external device to DVD is very simple to do and pretty good. I even have my Archos with camera attached and can record live directly onto DVD, pretty nifty stuff.
Look, this is not to toot anyones horns be it MS or Sony, but for those of us who have an HD panel and are currently using an upconverting dvd player, I can honestly tell you that you will definatley see a better picture.. When I compare the images with HD content on DISH network, it is strikingly similar, tho the HD content thru HDMI does have a slight advantage.. I am still impressed with PQ and for those of you who disagree, try to check it out for yourself, you wont be disappointed.
I don't think there is a catch.. MS said last year that a year from the release of the 360, they were going to enhance gameplay of the 360; that it would be a surprise to everyone and it was a hidden upgrade in the 360.. Well, I guess this could be that surprise..
Yeah, and now with the releasing info of the prices for the PS3 games, this is really going to be something that regular gamers will look at when thinking of next gen.. Damned, next gen, is really expensive if we left it up to Sony, wow- Kirby's Tilt 'N' Tumble? features full HD resolution, a whopping five hours of gameplay, and online functionality. The game will retail for $79.99 with additional levels available for purchase through Sony's online marketplace at $15.99 per level. Although the game will be compatible with both models of the PS3?, the $599 model with the 60gb hard drive will be required to save your game or play beyond the tutorial stage. Like I said in previous post, 499 system crap, 599 good, but with these prices normal folk will prob. go broke. And with our luck, the dollar will continue to fall, thus effecting prices for future purchases..
It was not revealed whether the online gaming was going to be FREE on the PS3, I believe their will be a cost for multiplaying, especially since they had that 'Playstation card' that would allow folk to make 'micro-purchases'.. Also, a simple comparison between the 500 and the 600 dollar version of the PS3 makes the 500 dollar version NULL, since it is not upgradable(no HDMI and no memory ports, no wifi), so really the 600 dollar version SHOULD be purchased when gettin this console, seriously.. For 100 dollars more, your really getting much more.. But that price really is just not sellin me on this system yet..
This is great news, especially for all of the 360 owners who will not need to invest in a pricey HD-DVD player; assuming this things not gonna be too expensive..
