The PS3 will do just fine. Your article presumes that Sony HAS to come out on top because that's been their track record thus far but I don't think that will be the case this time around. I think the Wii will mirror the success of the DS and have some great sales but the Xbox 360 will probably come out the overall victor. The 360 has become the "cool" console that everyone wants just like the PS2 was during its heyday and the PSOne before it. People will still buy PS3's but I don't think they will be as common as Sony's previous consoles.

If I'm paying a monthly fee for a game then I don't think I should be forced to look at ads. WoW is fun to play but if I started seeing Coke billboards in Stormwind I would drop the game right then and there. In-game ads would take away from the overall feel of a fantasy MMO and ruin the entire experience.
