I had this large install at work that took 3 days and we needed to find some extra IT help with it all. On the last night of the project I was talking with one of the contracted workers and we got on the topic that we were both into games. He started talking about his three toons he had on WoW and how they were all near or at end game.

Another instance I was at the local sports bar and was playing shuffleboard against two guys that played. One was an 80 whereas the other guy was at level 40ish. I could tell the 80 talked the 40 into playing as he was asking advice and where to go what to do. Who would have thought though that three WoW players would have been out for beer and socializing on a Friday night.

When I logged on this morning I looked at the Calendar to see the December Calendar I thought to myself, "when will the new patch be released?"

I figured Blizz wouldn't do it the 22nd. With the holidays that week and weekend I would assume that the last thing Blizzard employees would want to do is deal with bugs on the patch. And because of the holiday gifts, I assumed they would want people to have a reason to come back for Christmas, so therefore not the 29th.

The in game holiday is the 15th and that led me to believe that this is when they would launch the new content. This way they can roll out the holiday event as well as the new content at the same time instead of two separate weeks.

I, as much as the next person, would love to see it released on the 8th but am not "expecting" it until the 15th.
