I would much, much, MUCH rather have the game earlier than wait until a more crowded time of year for what will most likely be a surprise that nobody really cares about.
I'm actually thinking about importing this, I've been waiting for this so long.
I was really pining for a GTA HD re-release as well, but in the meantime, if you have even a halfway decent PC, those games can look amazingly good compared to the console versions. I bought them all on Steam for a combined $7 in a sale, and when I loaded them up and did a little configuration I could swear they were HD re-releases.
The text of the review sounded a bit more like 3 to 3.5 stars to me, but that might just be my personal biases coming into play. This game looks mildly intriguing, but it sounds like the single player campaign is rushed and tacked on and the co-op is where the meat of the experience comes, and that just doesn't appeal to me. Plus, I still have Deus Ex: HR in my monstrous backlog; I'll probably pick this up after the price drops.
Yeah, I've been super jazzed about this game, especially once they jettisoned the hard-edged "military" theme from the original trailer. This series has long been one of those that I thought would be amazing on current-gen systems, and though it's taken awhile, it looks like it will be worth the wait.
Between this and Mass Effect 3, I'm going to be plenty busy for the next few weeks.
Yeah, Blitz is great, but bare-bones. I've found that I don't even mind the lack of late hits anymore, but after seeing what they did with the Challenges and Tour mode in NBA Jam: On Fire Edition, it's a real shame that they couldn't have included a meatier experience for those who don't feel like getting cheesed in every game online.
As it is now, I'm going to finish unlocking all the characters via the Gauntlet mode and then I'll probably put it down for a while, which is a shame, but there's only so long playing single games with no real purpose can keep you going.
Ha...this was very close to perfect timing. I'd owned the first two games for quite a while but only started playing the first one about three weeks ago. I did everything in the first game and just finished up the main story in ME2 last night, but I still have to get through Shadow Broker and Arrival before I have it completed to my satisfaction. So I won't quite be able to jump on this demo tonight, which means I'm still ever so slightly "behind" on the series.
Fantastic games, both...I'm almost glad I waited as long as I did because now the final chapter is right around the corner, but I still feel somewhat dirty for having passed on such magnificent experiences for this long.
Thanks for the review; I'm not much for competitive multiplayer so the lacking single player campaign is a dealbreaker for me. I'll probably pick it up in the bargain bin a year or two from now. Just as well; I have a feeling SSX is going to envelop me and then I'll have to tear myself away for Mass Effect 3.
I'm mildly interested, but I can't justify spending more than $5 on this when I have so much else in the backlog. $15 is a good deal, but I'd feel like an idiot when it inevitably sits untouched in my Steam list for months and then it drops to $5 in the Summer sale.
Amazon 'Spring Sale' on PC has LA Noire for $5, Crysis 2 for $7.50
