Ninja Gaiden 3 arrives on March 20, pre-order or get collector's edition for DOA5 demo

Dec 15th 2011 10:20AM (Joystiq)
Probably can wait on this...still have Sigma 2 in the shrink wrap on my shelf. The backlog is absolutely mocking me.

GBA Ambassador games out in UK and Japan this Friday, full list revealed

This looks like a fantastic package, but unfortunately I'd still have to play them on the 3DS small screen and that just bugs me. It's one thing when it involves games that actually use 3D or stylus controls, but GBA games (with very few exceptions) control identically as they would with a real controller, so I can't help but feel that I'd rather be playing on a big screen.

But for those with more mobile lifestyles, what a great set of games to be getting for free...

Mojang aiming to publish Oxeye's 'Cobalt' on Friday

@Electrium

I plan to make a firm commitment to myself around December 29 or 30 that I will absolutely not buy any more games until 2012. Hopefully I can stick to it.

Tony Hawk HD developed by Robomodo, coming this summer for $15-ish

Dec 12th 2011 2:02PM (Joystiq)
I'd rather they just go the standard remake route. Just release 2-4 on a disc for $40, with nothing touched but the visuals, and I'd be a happy camper.

I'll probably end up checking this out anyway, for old time's sake if nothing else. Still haven't even played Skate 3 yet despite having a lot of fun with the first two.

Mario Kart 7 review: An exercise in fun/frustration

Nov 29th 2011 11:08AM (Joystiq)
Even though I'm moderately interested in this and Mario Land, I still can't bring myself to pull the trigger on the 3DS. It'll probably take that Layton/Phoenix Wright crossover to force me into the fold.

StarCraft 2 for $30 this weekend from Blizzard Store

@jwan830

That's exactly why I have no interest in competitive multiplayer in general, not just SC2, although SC2 is the worst in that respect. I understand why that kind of experience is so addicting for certain types of gamers, but it's just not for me.

That said, I LOVE playing easy, stress-free matches pounding the AI into the pavement every now and then. Just building up a base and seeing all of the chaos flashing on the screen is quite cathartic and enjoyable.

Amazon sales today include Ico, Bulletstorm, Xbox 360 Kinect bundle

I keep kicking around the idea of getting No More Heroes on the PS3 for snazzier graphics, but I already have both of them on the Wii and have never played them. I might bite on that deal, although they also have some pretty slick PC download deals that would probably be a wiser way to go.

EA gets tricky with latest SSX trailer

Nov 18th 2011 2:26PM (Joystiq)
Looking good...definitely have this one squarely on the radar. It looks like they just made another SSX game with current-gen graphics instead of trying to do too much to change a classic, and that's exactly the approach I was hoping for.

Super Meat Boy gets Steam-sponsored bundle, new content and Mac version coming this weekend

I've been kicking around the idea of getting SMB on the PC (already own it on 360), if nothing else to be able to tinker around with the level creator. Looks like this is a great opportunity.

I might spring for the whole package, since I haven't played World of Goo and have heard great things about it.

Need for Speed: The Run review: Drive angry

Nov 17th 2011 6:10PM (Joystiq)
As someone who absolutely loved Cruis'n USA on the N64 despite every reviewer on the planet shitting all over it, I don't think I'm going to be able to resist picking this up at the Black Friday price. The concept is just too appealing for me to pass up. Enough people have said that the core driving is solid enough to make it worth my time, especially since it won't take that much of it.

I understand why most people won't find something like this to be a worthwhile proposition at $60, especially with the plethora of amazing titles out this holiday season, but for me there's something to be said for a quick and breezy action-packed romp on an idle afternoon as a nice change of pace from time-sucking behemoth games like Skyrim, Saints Row, et al.
