The Settlers 7 pre-order bonus and gold edition detailed

Feb 23rd 2010 1:25AM (Joystiq)
Sorry, horrible DRM makes me wonder why Joystiq would bother mentioning this game. Just to repeat the general sentiment.

Molyneux: Fable 3 news at X10 will make you 'super pissed off'

"We've cancelled development of Fable 3 for the 360 and have established a partnership with Nintendo to release it on the Wii. The first game since Wii Sports that makes effective use of the Wiimote!"

Something along those lines.

BigDownload has copies of the video, that I assume are much better quality that you can download. I agree. The video in the flash player was kinda gross lookin' :\

Spare some coin, get Assassin's Creed for $5 on Steam 'til Thursday

Oct 22nd 2009 12:50AM (Joystiq)
Careful. $5 isn't much, but unless you have a decent gaming rig, you should just rent it for the 360. I purchased the game on D2D for $5 and almost finished, but the game freezes randomly on me all the time and the framerate isn't stellar. And I'm running an Intel Core i7 with a new ATI 5850. Playable, fun, but you'd probably get a better experience on the 360 here.

Games for Windows certification streamlined for Windows 7 launch

Sep 18th 2009 2:07AM (Joystiq)
I'm a PC enthusiast/gamer with a Wii and a 360. And I have to recommend my non-tech friends away from the PC (even with the fantastic Windows 7) because of common PC game issues.

While PC gaming isn't dead (just look at the how successful Steam really is), I'm not sure if there is a point with the GFW branding push...

Those who are looking for a smooth and happy experience without much computer knowledge are just going to buy the console and the matching game. They might by into the GFW brand once or twice until they become frustrated with all the same troubleshooting for video and sound and other interruptions you have to handle when dealing with PC games and ultimately may have their view of the brand tarnished. Then they'll go to their console and be supremely satisfied that their game works on the system without any sort of troubleshooting required.

And for the rest of us who have the time, skill and patience to troubleshoot before getting the superior experience in the end? Well, we aren't really going to make a decision on the game based on GFW either. *shrug*

I don't have any sources, but I am sure I read *somewhere* that the game will ask which save file to import from if there are more than 1 finished copy to choose from. Personally, I played the first time through the way I wanted Shepard to respond. The second time through it was for kicks to see what kind of awkward moments I could discover and don't really want that tainting my story in ME2. So here's hoping I read right.
