Best Buy Xbox bundle for $399 and HD DVD for $150

Aug 1st 2007 1:04PM (Joystiq)
Well I don't think Blu-Ray will replace movies all together. I seriously don't see DVD's being phased out for another decade. But as far as HD and Blu-Ray go, I think the winner has already been decided.

Best Buy Xbox bundle for $399 and HD DVD for $150

Aug 1st 2007 11:37AM (Joystiq)
yeah at this point who is going to spend that much when the PS3 offers a better bundle. If blu-ray has won the format war, even a 100 dollar HD drive would be a waste of money. And agreed, who wants 2 optical drives on a console...

PS3 60GB doesn't represent a price drop, it's a clearance sale

Jul 14th 2007 10:36PM (Joystiq)
joystiq you're getting a little lame here. How can you focus on so much bad when all this is a good thing. I'm sure the 60 gig model will be in stock for many months. Any of us here who wants to get one would beable to for the cheap price. Anyone else that waits to buy one later is at fault on their own.

You should be writing news that covers games, and gaming related things, not reposts of the same thing you've already written about.

I'm not trying to be a fan boy here, but you're very biased, and you're articles are just opinions as it is. Why not bring both sides of the spectrum for some objective journalism. Not sure why these people even pay you.

Sony confirms: 80GB PlayStation 3 and price drop for 60GB model

Jul 9th 2007 2:26AM (Joystiq)
Sure, its still a little pricey, but when you way what you're going to spend otherwise it's a good deal.

PS3 499

60 Gig
Blu Ray
Wifi

360 399
Add HD + 199.99
Add Wifi + 99.99
Add more HD + 99-149.99

Sure, you're forced to buy the other stuff, but if you think about it you're getting a good deal. Now if you're not looking for the other things, then it's a ton of money, and not a good deal. I worked in video game retail for many years, and lots of people bought the Wifi adapters for 360, and that alone would even out the price.

Of course the argument now is game selection, ps3 is pretty weak on that....

But, its only been like 8 months, and 360 wasnt the best then either. It's all gonna come down to a year from now.

First Guitar Hero III footage hits the net

May 31st 2007 1:07PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Honestly, I don't think this is 100% real. The first video is "My name is Jonas", by Weezer and it's obviously the original track, not recorded by their guys. While the game looks like its responding to the song, and the player, I wonder if it's a wonderful edited video. On the other hand, maybe while the guys over at guitar hero use the original song before recording their own so they can tab the music.

Don't know. Just input.

Tell Gamestop 'no reserves' with this geek chic shirt

Apr 30th 2007 10:19PM (Joystiq)
It's funny but come on, we all reserve stuff all the time. Lots of times there are good things in doing so. Plus why single out gamestop, blockbuster and best buy do it to.

Gamestop shenanigans sell open games as 'new'

Mar 25th 2007 2:47PM (Joystiq)
Wtf fuck does it matter, I work at gamestop and no one has ever complained. We do it everyday, because we have to. One game is gutted and put on the shelve, because assholes out there STEAL. If everything was live then not only would the store have to be the size of best buy, but would have to have more security. Gamestop's are in small stores in malls and stripmalls, imagine if every copy of the game was out there in some plastic security window, you'd have to have more employees and a larger store. Game prices would rise, along with strategy guides and used games, much higher than they are now. There is no good way to limit the space on our walls without gutting one copy, and putting it's display out, leaving the other 60+ copies in a cabinet. Your game hasnt been played, and if it is scratched, you don't have to buy it. The whole reason they do this though, besides space, is that people steal, maybe even people who read here. Best buy has a much higher inventory loss than any game stop i'll tell you that. It's the way they are FORCED to do business. Calling them shady is just stupid, it's not like there is this huge conspiracy against gamers where they take out all the games and take dumps on the discs.

Indian mythology inspires new game

yeah, this is Dot not Feather. It's actually a pretty good story, I had to read it in college.

Gamestop wants your Twilight Princess, we hate them that much more

Feb 16th 2007 8:08PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Hey, asshole. You guys are too damn subjective, everything you write is you're opinion, you act like your speaking for all of us or the majority. Come on, who cares that game stop called you, who cares that they are trying to run a business? Lots of people trade in their games, and lots of people would trade a game that they are done with once its worth more money. Most games only trade in for 25 tops, so 35 is a reason to call someone.

And out of all of us, how many really just "dont shop at game stop" are you kidding? Learn to be objective, not subjective. It's surprised that you actually have a job in the media.
