Need for Speed: The Run - A People Chase
Sep 29th 2011 10:02PM (Joystiq)It's the right formula, a switch of long distance driving with a couple contest breaks in between, which directly influence the places of each racer. And make it so players can race clean by focusing on the race, race strategically by going easy on the long distance stuff and throw their effort into challenges... or... play dirty pool... "wacky races" style (mess with other players cars, alter parts of the trackso racers lagging behind can't catch up, break the law with or without a cop in view, run other drivers off the road, speed racer style).... you know the routine.
Finally Death Race / Carmageddon within the city limits!
Katamari Damacy Vita details revealed, things get stretchy
Sep 16th 2011 8:47PM (Joystiq)Shame that Katamari is being milked by Konami a bit these days.
Namco-Bandai... Konami is behind stuff like MGS and YuGiOh
Katamari Damacy Vita details revealed, things get stretchy
Sep 16th 2011 8:44PM (Joystiq)Although... iOS... Katamari On Macintosh, anyone? They could do a version specific to the Mac where the prince has to return the rainbow stripes to the Apple Logo after the King nearly destroys Apple on one of his galactic drunking benders without Steve Job's reality distortion field in place to protect everything at One Infinite Loop.
Everyone else is finally porting there stuff to the Mac either through virtualization of Windows drivers or porting up from the the iOS to the Mac OS (which will probably be called iOS Pro by the time 10.8 rolls around...)
The secret liberal agenda of SimCity Societies and Flower revealed
Sep 9th 2011 4:05AM (Joystiq)What actually ended up happening, was that the secular folks were the ones to start first, claiming Spore was actually some form of creationist propoganda targeting children, instead.
It's similarly interesting here... Fox criticizing games for pushing things like renewable resources in a video game, while they themselves have their own "Green it. Mean it." ad campaign plastered all over places like Hulu.
So... do they mean "green" as in trees, plants, farming, etc.... or "green" as in "money"? I often wonder what that campaign is driving at and for whom the message is intended... are they trying to get "everyone" to recycle or whatnot... or are they really poking fun at "poor" families, telling them to reuse stuff even more than they already do now...
you know... such as they might have multi-generational hand me down clothes, but rather than just clothes, what about making all of those other "luxury" items these "poor" families might have "hand me down"... like maybe hand me down toilet paper or food?
That way, even the poor families can still pay their taxes like the rest of us patriotic red-blooded americans.
EA has made $10 - $15 million off Online Pass
Sep 9th 2011 2:51AM (Joystiq)Anyone wanna try taking a stab at this by buying the online pass redemption codes from players who buy these games and play them offline only? I bet a lot of people would be more than happy to stuff their unused pass code sheets into a pre-paid envelope for $5 a pop.
Apple patent roundup: Pico projectors and schematic maps
Aug 12th 2011 6:21PM (TUAW.com)If noting else, it'd add some flare to those boring powerpoint presentations, if you had a monster burst through the pie chart about the frequency of lethal monster attacks at board meetings and have it be briefly convincing to the partially awake audience!
Minecraft to begin (and possibly never end) with a beta on XBLA
Aug 7th 2011 11:24AM (Joystiq)All of the clones have features unique to them that makes each worth buying.
Diamonds are forever, and so are Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D save files
Jun 28th 2011 12:20PM (Joystiq)That said, any game that has this feature should be boycotted. It's bad enough that they region lock game titles, so the industry can artificially control prices in different parts of the world, instead of letting the market decide on a game's value itself.
Nintendo stock down 5 percent after Wii U reveal
Jun 8th 2011 3:23PM (Joystiq)Rather than bringing us pictures of wii-remote/tablet hybrid controllers, Nintendo should be giving us options, like bringing high-definition (even software upscaled HD) to the Wii and a true mass storage solution (ie. a USB HARD DRIVE) to enhance the Wii gaming experience and to add features like allowing games to cache large amounts of data like the 360 and PS3 can, if needed. A mere hard drive would literally add enough flexibility to the Wii to let it evolve for a couple years longer. Nintendo is the Wii's own worst enemy by leaving it so underspecced this late in the game.
Nintendo stock down 5 percent after Wii U reveal
Jun 8th 2011 1:16PM (Joystiq)So, Nintendo goes to the trouble of stuffing a tablet display into their next gen controller and not even capacitive touch? Hey Nintendo, the 90's called... they want their Palm Pilot back!
