Shadowrun lacking campaign and split screen [update 1]

Mar 6th 2007 5:36AM (Joystiq Xbox)
Well, there goes the sale for me.

4 Xboxes, 4 copies of halo 1 and Halo 2 were sold to myself. Not to mention controllers.

I own 4 360s, and will own 4 copies of Halo 3 for that reason alone.

Now if someone else will get a clue, LAN parties are still a huge deal for me and my friends. Talking smack to a stranger online is not much fun; being able to congregate in a real life room after a match to talk about it with your friends is, in my opinion, multiplayer fun on a level that few people get to experience.

So there goes 4 potential copies of Shadowrun sold to me....too bad I WAS actually excited about the game.

Oh no wait, I need to call my 15 other friends who all own 360s and 15 copies of the game, who all have xbox live gold accounts with broadband internet, to meet in the lobby I create at a certain time, and make sure to have your headsets on and unmuted..........

Yeah. Bottom line - Shadowrun doesn't care about gamers. It's now a rush job that has cut corners. I'm glad I'm not a game reviewer, or I'd tear some of these companies a new one for releasing a half-baked product.
Either get in it for the long haul, and release a quality product, with options for different types of gamers, or just don't make the damn game at all.

Good job. Make a multiplayer only game, and give the world ONE OPTION on how to play it with multiple people. It's developers like you that makes Xbox Live look bad.

COULDN'T AGREE WITH YOU MORE.

I've been harping about this for so long. Give us more mid level content. Make it fun for people of all races/builds/shapes/sizes.

You get the idea, I could go on for hours, but you get the idea.

DirecTV remote can control your 360

Jan 24th 2007 1:31AM (Joystiq Xbox)
Why is this making news everywhere? Is it that slow of a news day?

The original Xbox DVD remote was manufatured by RCA, so most RCA universal remote
codes worked for it. 99 percent of IR remotes can replicated by universal remotes, and
DirecTV and Dish remotes have universal code support built in.

If it's a slow news day, maybe we should have stuff like:

"If Xbox/Xbox 360 drives have a disc read error, you can buy a new replacement laser
and replace it!"

"NEWS FLASH! You can use rechargeable batteries on an Xbox 360 and a wall charger
INSTEAD of the play and charge kit....this way, you can always be wireless!!!"

Two player system link. 5 and a half hours straight. This is awesome.

Tribulation Knights, a Christian stealth game

Jan 3rd 2007 5:22AM (Joystiq)
As a proud Christian, I can say that I'm really excited about avoiding this game at all costs. I think the message we need to understand here is that Jesus loves the developers of crappy games, but not necessarily the games themselves.

Kudos @ Ben Friesen #8, that's an interesting concept. A game with a unique idea like that would merit at least a few hours of my time. It's almost as good as my Paul Bunyan's Pro Lumberjack™ idea which I will be pitching to Activision soon.

Settlers of Catan ... hot! Now where is it?

With this and Culdcept Saga hitting the 360 in 2007, I expect to waste hundreds of hours with a few friends in front of the TV. Strategy multiplayer gaming without the inconvenience of using EXPENSIVE sets of cards and boards. Genius.

(Oh and for all you people who aren't familiar with Culdcept, think Magic the Gathering meets Monopoly, plus the addictive properties of two hits of crack.)

Yeah, it was nice for bit....then back to my PS3 collecting dust (no literally, it gets dusty like ten minutes after you clean it).

What funk is SEGA in?

Dec 13th 2006 3:25PM (Joystiq)
I was really pumped about Phantasy Star Universe. Until I learned the only way to do co-op was over Xbox Live. My friends and I spent hundreds of hours 4-player split screen on the original Xbox version. Some people still like playing in the same room. Reduces the usefulness of my big screen TV as well. Heck, I'd have everybody in the same room with 4 360's, 4 tv's, and 4 copies of the game if you could at LEAST system link offline. But no. We all have to connect to the Live service AND pay an EXTRA monthly fee just to play together. Um, no thanks.

The less these developers pay attention to the details and keep pumping out limited ways to play, the less copies they're going to sell.

Gears of War? System Link co-op? WHOA. Who else has had the balls to do that lately? I own TWO copies of the game just so we can do such a thing. Funny how a little extra effort can sell the same game TWICE to the same customer.

Totally agree on the recent Sonic titles too. Total suckness.
