With no iPhone release last June and the fact that Apple told the world iOS 5 would being debuting in the fall it seemed pretty obvious that there would be a phone released along with the OS upgrade. Seems to me that people held off buying in September because the knew waiting a month would land them a new version of the iPhone.
As an iPhone 4 and iPad 2 owner who doesn't care about photos that much and has a device with the A5 processor, maybe holding out for a possible June release of the iPhone 5 with 4G LTE is the answer. I just have that feeling that by June all the carriers will have enough LTE coverage to allow Apple to release a device that will work on that network.
At $99 I'm very satisfied with what the AppleTV can due and with wireless mirroring coming with the iOS 5 update this little box will offer a lot for a very little price. It would be nice to see apple give it more of a boost, say a dual core A5 and 1gig of RAM and open it up to a full version of iOS 5. I'd love to be able to download games onto it and use an iphone or ipad as a controller or use email, safari and third party apps with either an iOS device or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse to navigate. There's a lot of people who only use a computer to check email, browse online and organize their photos so this can be apples budget computer and gaming console all wrapped into one.
I really doubt Apple will make a tv. If anything maybe they'll release a Cinimadisplay with an AppleTV built into it. I have a 42" LCD tv which has a tuner, picture in picture and many other things that are completely useless because I have to have a cable box connected to it. I'm sure Apple realizes that most people use there tv as a monitor for their cable/satellite box, appleTV, DVD/Blue Ray player and there computer, so it would be a waste of their resources making a tv.
Either he was stupid not to add lol or :) to the end of the sentence or the people on his friends list are to stupid to tell when someone is joking when the author doesn't use them.
I agree, I think it has to do with functionality of mobile devices in general. I've also noticed a lot of my friends with iphones switching to a Mac rather than getting a new windows machine. It's funny because I've been telling them for year to make the switch but they never did. I guess the iPhone is the gateway into macs and Apple products in general.
I had problems also getting it to switch to the full site view. If you click the Full TUAW Experience link several times quickly it will finally switch over.
