This has nothing to do with Political Correctness, this about right and wrong, and I don't want to hear anything about "moral relativism". You, I, and everyone else knows that is way, way, over the line.
Also, considering that the Chairman of the CSM is the highest representative of the Eve Player-base, the office holder should carry some semblance of respect and dignity. Mittens utterly failed in that capacity, and as such he should resign... now!
I never meant to imply that I wasn't irritated with Blizz cutting and changing things. I'm no fanboy, and to be quite honest, it pisses me off.
You do have a good counter argument, but for me PVP is about as interesting as watching grass grow. I do agree however, that constant tweaking to balance PVP will not be a fun prospect.
'...[T]he only real context is loot and rewards. "In an MMO, the reason is the loot... That is what MMOs have devolved into,"
Yeah, and that is why I don't play them anymore, at least the really popular ones. That type of gameplay is boring and repetitive to me. But notice how he used the word, 'devolved', not 'evolved'. That's a clue people.
Free to play is false, these games are not free to play, they never have been, and they never will be. It's a guise for weak willed and weak minded people to loosen their wallets. This model eventually moves towards pay to win anyway, because if the option to buy an advantage exists, many will purchase it (i.e., Battlefield Heroes). That temptation becomes to hard to resist for companies (and let's face it) whose real motivation for being in business in the first place, is to make the most profit possible.
As far as I'm concerned F2P and P2W are synonymous, and that is why I'm not interested in playing many of them.
And in response to Georgeson, who said, "From a player perspective, I don't know why anybody resists free-to-play. I just don't get it."
The reason why some of us don't like F2P Mr. Georgeson, is because the gameplay always suffers as a result of F2P, and those changes usually force people to spend money in order to advance, be competitive, or whatever else, and we hate that. For us, the monthly subscription is much better because we get everything for a cheap monthly price.
I don't understand people who praise F2P. They just can't stand paying $15 per month, but are more than happy to spend $50 or more in a cash shop and while smiling and saying, "...but I'm playing for free!!!" This is retarded.
Arena might make not make as much money as ActiBlizz, but I feel certain in saying they are going to make plenty of cash off disgruntled Diablo fans.
I've often said Torchlight 2 will be seen as the better game in the long run anyway. Diablo 3 will be hot for five minutes, whereas Torchlight 2 has the stuff under the hood to last for years.
I could really care less about this issues. PVP in Diablo is nothing more than a virtual pissing contest anyway, it's pointless. The fun of Diablo, at least in my opinion, was always slaying monsters with friends anyway.
So what if the e-peen crowd has to wait a little longer for their precious (but meaningless) PVP arena.
@Kalex716 Yup, and that is why the big publisher system is going to die. Indie publishers have more options now thanks to Steam and other Digital Distribution Services. There is no need for boxes or physical media anymore, so that saves heaps of cash which can be better spent on development.
