War Stories trailer hits the trenches

Jun 7th 2007 9:05PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I was extremely interested in this game. Lack of Wi-Fi has nearly killed any chance of me buying it though.

DS Daily: Is Phantom Hourglass still your most wanted?

Jun 1st 2007 9:17AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Absolutely still Phantom Hourglass! It doesn't matter how many top class games are coming and already out; I won't be satisfied until I'm Zelda-ing on the go.

DS Daily: If only

May 30th 2007 5:15PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Yep, Alisha, Advance Wars would be incredible online. Sharing maps, and battles with friends would be great. Thankfully Advance Wars has enough to make it on it's own without it, but I'm hoping Nintendo has a new Advance Wars to show off at this years July E3, complete with online.

But Age of Empires desperately needs it. I'm holding my breath for a "Conquerors DS" to come along and put a spit shine on the game and add some needed modes. The core gameplay of AoE is wonderful, rivaling Advance Wars, but it is missing a bit of polish and some important features.

DS Daily: Underrated

May 22nd 2007 1:42PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I'm sure there are several others that deserve more attention, but here are some titles that to me don't get enough appreciation:

Mario and Luigi Partners in Time. It was a great game, full of humor and very enjoyable. Filled the RPG void in my collection perfectly at the time.

Age of Empires: The Age of Kings. I hardly ever hear people mention this game, yet it needs to be up there with the likes of Advance Wars. Great game with good balance, fairly lengthy campaign, and awesome replay value. I play with the empire maps more than anything else. However it is missing a bit, no online was a big bummer, especially since this game came out after the service was launched. And no map editor is a bit of a gripe for me as well, but I can live without it.

DS Daily: Overrated

May 21st 2007 10:32AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I find MPH to be over-rated by major reviewers, and under-rated by gamers. It is a good game, a lot of fun with friends, and goodness the control scheme was a dream when you got used to it. Cramps every once in a while, true, but it was so precise! I'll trade a little discomfort for such precise aiming.

Mario Kart is not over hyped. End of. The Wifi was lacking, but it was internet play darn it! No longer did you have to have a friend right there to play with. It was simple and limited, but it was also Nintendo's first entry.

NSMB, perhaps. It was a great game, and a ton of fun, but it was too easy.

My most over-rated game is Star Fox Command. I did not like this game at all. The story, what story? You mean some of you actually played through this multiple times to get the different weak endings? The control was difficult at first but ended up okay. Needed to be a bit tighter though. The Wifi was absolutely terrible. Much worse than MK, and came out almost a year later. The strategy element felt taped on, and the fights were repetitive. I was very disappointed.

Super Mario Chart

May 17th 2007 11:36AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I have to agree with you a bit JC--I like Super Mario 64 as much as the next guy, and sure it was amazing, innovative, and all that jazz, but I'll take a 2D side-scrolling Mario over a 3D one any day of the week. They're just so brilliant, and expertly designed.

I personally loved NSMB, it was on the easy side, but it was extremely enjoyable. All the detail was there from the good old days, and the new stuff like the enemies dancing to the rhythm of the music, the new wall jumps, and snazzy 2.5D was just the icing on the cake along with a lot of other neat things and top notch level design. I loved every moment.

Dragon Quest IX ditches the Wi-Fi Connect?

If they drop Wi-Fi, it is likely I'll drop plans to buy this game.

Japanese hardware sales, Apr. 9 - Apr. 15: 433420-302039 Edition

Apr 21st 2007 9:01AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Friend codes don't affect sales, and keep little kids safe. It's win win for Nintendo. On the other hand, it pisses off those of who actually want to have a good time. It really is a shame, there is such potential if they would just get rid of friend codes.

DS Fanboy Favorites: Eric's top five

Apr 20th 2007 11:54AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Hehe - some interesting choices there! I'll agree with you that New Super Mario Bros is an awesome game though. I think it gets over-looked a little too much. It truly is a brilliant game that brings back the series very well. It is my second favorite of the 2D side scrolling Marios, behind the original Super Mario World of course.

With all due respect,
Fox
