Gotta say Dan, I admire what your doing because as I'm sure your fully aware of, there is no concept in the business world as Good Corporations or Bad Corporations because not everything is that black and white. People will continue to justify their irrational hatred of any big video game company no matter how irrelevant or even topical it may be.
Listen people, I get it- EA is the new halo of goodness in this industry that is, supposedly, becoming saturated with countless sequels and franchises which is funny because like Dan, I too have been gaming since the halcyon days of Atari/Nintendo/Sega (I'm significantly younger then him, being born in '87 lol) and can attest that sequels and franchises are absolutely NOTHING new. How many Mario games were on NES? Sonic on Genesis? How many Street Fighter 2 games were released between during the Super Nintendo and Genesis era?
The fact that are so many Guitar Hero games nowadays is absolutely nothing new and the only viable reasoning that people are ****ing kittens about it is because now they can even make their opinions vocally known to others- the internet didn't...technically... become a thing of communication between others until the '98
Also, Bobby Kotick is a businessman. He's in the business to make money, it's as simple as that. In fact, once you take off your rose-colored glasses, all video games can adamantly say that they care about you (their fans)- they're lying to your face because all they ultimately care about is your MONEY.
I'm fully aware that Dan Amrich, formally a podcaster (to me at least lol) of OXM and GamesRadar/TalkRadar, can take care of himself because he has mentioned before on TalkRadar that he enjoys the interaction with people whether that be good or bad. He had also stated that he was fully aware that irrational gamers would blame him or call him a "shill" because of him taking this position.
With people like That Burning Sensation making analogies comparing him to Catholic priests who basically mindscrewed the natives of a country into tranquility so they could be taken over by... you know what, I'm sorry but I don't understand your long-winded and incredibly illogical analogies that are entirely irrelevant to what he's doing and what his position at Activision is, you've kinda proven his point here.
Quite unlike how knowing your American and European History doesn't make you anymore intelligent than others... much like how my grasp of the English language doesn't automatically mean I'm smarter than you either.
