Ad critic: Hitman ad titillates, but is it a murder/sex sim?

Apr 7th 2006 12:15PM (Joystiq)
"Sorry Kate, I get absolutely nothing sexual from the ad, because she's dead."

I get absolutely nothing sexual from the ad because I don't find the woman pictured to be at all attractive. Her makeup and coloring make her look like a vampire just waiting to spring back to life.

I like the previous Hitman console games, but this ad doesn't do anything for me. (I'll still probably buy the next Hitman game though.) I hope you folks have a lot of fun arguing about a meaningless print ad.

Tale of the flop: BloodRayne at the box office

"...the actors looked like they were pulled from the nearest 'special education' acting schools. There is no way this movie cost more than $5 million dollars to make."

'Special education' includes Academy Award winner Sir Ben Kingsley? Are Kristanna Loken, Michelle Rodriguez and Michael Madsen fresh from acting school as well?

The cast along probably cost more than $5 million, so your argument doesn't make any sense.

Video game movies tank, nobody notices

German tax laws give native hacks like Uwe Boll unlimited financing to get their movies made. If the movie fails commercially, investors get to write 100% of their investment in his film off on their taxes.

The recent law change simply closes off a loophole that previously allowed foreign companies to come into Germany, sell a film property to a German company (and license it back from them) and enjoy the same tax breaks that were intended to stimulate actual German film production.

Uwe Boll is still in business for the forseeable future, folks. What I don't understand is how so many video game developers and publishers are willing to whore their intellectual property out to hacks like Uwe Boll who will simply drag their property's name through the mud.

Joyswag: win a copy of Shadow of the Colossus

I can still remember beating Dracula in the final level of Castlevania Adventure for the original Game Boy. If you got hit during the battle, you lost your weapon power-ups, and the battle became increasingly difficult.

Once I figured out his attack patterns and learned to evade his projectiles, I could keep all of my power-ups and defeat Dracula in not time. Thus ended my first epic adventure on the old Game Boy.
