May 25th 2010 10:48AM (WoW)WoW Rookie: The fresh 80's guide to getting started in five-mans
Jan 6th 2010 8:06PM (WoW)I started playing about three months ago. My Warrior is now lvl 50 and I've been running random dungeons as a tank since lvl 35. I've learned a ton, but by no means am I where I'd like to be as a tank. I've been getting great (in my mind anyway) blues from running these, so why would I not be able to start non-heroic 5-mans by the time I reach 80? How is someone supposed to learn to tank heroics and non-heroics if no one will run a random dungeon with me?
I do have a guild, we are small and starting out, so I'm hopeful that by the time I reach lvl 80 there will be enough people consistently playing that we can run them together. But it boggles the mind that people expect me to know everything and have epic lvl gear ahead of time before I queue for a random. IMHO, random PUGs are where people should be going to learn. Hopefully they've been learning their role ahead of time, but honestly.

Jun 21st 2007 4:28PM (Joystiq)Absolutely not! I know this guy! A couple of my friends and I have had a great laugh over seeing this guys mug all over the internet. Obviously I won't give out this kid's name, but trust me, I know him (and he's still really fat)!

Jun 21st 2007 1:07PM (Joystiq)Analyst: In-stock PS3s are "troubling"
Jan 11th 2007 4:50PM (Joystiq)1) Pushing Cell processor into PS3 as a wider marketing scheme for their other products.
2) Pushing Blue-ray onto the consumers in an effort to win the format war (then telling us we need the space for true next-gen games).
3) Sloppy implementation of SIXAXIS wireless function.
4) Lackluster developer relations.
5) Suing for rumble feature instead of manning-up and paying for the use of the feature.
I could go on, but I'm already risking a ban for inciting a flame war!
Analyst: In-stock PS3s are "troubling"
Jan 11th 2007 4:39PM (Joystiq)I would bet that most people don't want the cheaper version without HDMI, but it's just a guess.
Sony owns up to deceptive marketing blog
Dec 13th 2006 4:35PM (Joystiq)I don't know how you can equate this with deceit. There are millions of products sold on television that use actors in the place of actual customers giving so called testimonials as to the effectiveness of the product. Plus, it doesn't really seem that anyone was fooled. Nope, it was just plain old crappy marketing, plain and simple.

b) Do not or have not worked for a company that releases software intensive products.
I work for a company that produces hardware and software specifically designed to run on that hardware. I can tell you that market pressures will always trump some level of quality, especially if it is possible to release and fix. Plus, no matter how long you spend tweaking software, there will always be bugs...always!
This is the nature of our modern world, and like it or not, video game entertainment is a very high tech, high cost industry to play in. A good question to ask when you encounter a bug is: "does this make the game unplayable?" If the answer is "yes" the developers did not do their job. If the answer is "no, but it's really annoying" then it's on the block for a patch at some point, so stop your complaining.
