Ars mole: Splinter Cell: Conviction, Final Fantasy XIII getting 250GB Xbox 360 bundles

Feb 11th 2010 1:23PM (Joystiq)
I've been playing FF games since 1997 and I can't believe SE hasn't announced a CE for this game.

It's been almost 5 years, and all I want you to do is give me a decent excuse to give you MORE of my money. The LE Guide doesn't even seen to have anything especially cool other than a hard cover and a 16-page art gallery-type addition.

I wish SquareSoft were here!

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 to have day-one DLC

Feb 10th 2010 12:53PM (Joystiq)
If it's free, I didn't see that part and I take back what I said, specific to this game.

However, the overall point still stands that if a game has DLC ready for day one, it should a part of the regular game. The whole "shipping-handling-packaging" argument doesn't really work for me.

However, if companies want to release a game, see how it sells for a few months, and THEN decide whether to do the DLC thing, then sure, go for it. Extending replay value on a good a game for $5 or whatever is great as far as I'm concerned.

But to say "Thanks for buying our $60 product on day one! ...now to get everything that you should have gotten on the disc, we'll immediately need another $3, $5, $10" etc. That's just wrong and it's taking advantage of people.

That may or not be what is happening with this particular game, but I think the overall point I was trying to make is valid and something that we all, as loyal consumers to these companies, can agree with.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 to have day-one DLC

Call me crazy, but shouldn't "day one DLC" just BE A PART OF THE EFFING GAME?

I'm so sick of publishers taking advantage of gamers. WE ALREADY PAY $60 FOR YOUR GAME. Seriously, this kind of thing is such BS.

I can see some add-ons being worth it a few months down the line to add to a game's replay value, but day-one DLC is a slap in the face to intelligent gamers everywhere.

Back of FFXIII box for 360 mentions DLC

Feb 7th 2010 9:36PM (Joystiq)
Brian-

I was referring to the end of the article that speculated the possibility of the DLC not being available on the PS3 version. I don't care if Xbox gets it, as long as PS3 does as well.

Point is, FFXIII was supposed to be PS3-exclusive, and then Sony wouldn't pony up to make that happen. As a result of that, the game was cut down significantly (as the article says "a full game's worth of content" was cut out of the final version) to make it "fair" (AKA allow the 360 able to handle it). So Sony's ignorance and the 360's limited capabilities have already really screwed up a game I've been waiting several years for, and the thing hasn't even come out yet.

That being said, if that annoyance is further compouned by 360-exclusive DLC, I am going to be really, really pissed.

That's "what is wrong with me". Any other questions?

If this goes from PS3-exclusive to multi-console with 360-exclusive DLC, I will literally burn Sony to the ground.

Sony: iPad consumers will graduate to the PSP

Jan 30th 2010 7:47PM (Joystiq)
I think he has a point. I mean, the iPhone/iPod touch/iPad aren't gaming devices. They're devices that also play games. The gaming part is an afterthought with the Apple products, IMHO. I mean, all we've been saying the last week is how gamers won't be buying the iPad.

However, it's fairly logical to say that someone who gets an Apple device for a non-gaming reason will start playing games on it due to their cheap price and say "Hey, this is cool, but this doesn't have many legit, full-length games. That sucks. But hey, the PSP (or Nintendo DS) have a ton of legit, full-length, and they're not overly expensive. Maybe I'll spring for one (or both) of those."

I mean, obviously a lot of people won't have that happen, but I'm sure that it happens to some.

Analysts: Gamers won't care about iPad

...At least you know that with the 360, you'll probably *need* two! HAHA! ...Right?

No, but really, I completely agree.

Bayonetta PS3 patch adds hard drive installation option

Jan 27th 2010 8:18PM (Joystiq)
As much as I love Bayonetta (and I really love Bayonetta), the load times on PS3 are so bad that sometimes I don't concoct items/change accessories when I would usually want to because I don't feel like waiting for the effing screens to load. I can't say that's ever happened to me in another game.

Needless to say, this patch is more than welcome.

It's true. With an iPod touch, PSP, DS Lite, and a laptop, I wouldn't have time for this device even if I wanted to pay $700 to get it.
