First pic of an AT&T-branded 8925 / Tilt, 9/30 release date?

Sep 22nd 2007 10:55PM (Engadget)
The ATT version MAY look like this, but that picture is a photoshop job. The upper left has been clone tooled to remove the camera. The brushed metal grain is altered up there. Also, the "8925" silkscreen has a distinct rectangle of pixel noise around it.

I plan on getting the unlocked version anyway. Unadulterated HTC action!

Internet radio iPods due Wednesday?

Sep 4th 2007 12:48PM (Engadget)
I agree with Constable Odo. I really want the iPhone Touch with 100-120 GB HDD. If they do the new iPod only in flash, then the absolute most they could do would be 64GB. And it would be a near miracle by Apple to get that in under $600 yet, even with their contract volumes. 32GB is more likely. It will be cool but disappointing to me, because I want high capacity.

So I've decided: I have an 8GB iPhone. If the iPod Touch is indeed HDD based and offers lots of storage, I will sell the iPhone and buy it (and go back to a blackberry). if the iTouch tops at 32GB, I will keep the iPhone and get a 160GB Archos 605. The deal is sealed!

DigiTimes mongers-up new iPods with touchscreen and WiFi for Wednesday

Sep 3rd 2007 11:21AM (Engadget)
This rumor is more in line with what I've been predicting in some forums. Basically, because I want to say I got it right before they actually announce:

Nano = Capacity bumps

5G iPod will become the rumored "phatty" one = It will sport a new interface, possibly OSX based (cover flow, etc.).It will be HARD DRIVE based, and aluminum like the nano. Colors. Probably 60 and 100 or 120GB.

iPod Touch = iPhone without the phone. Wifi. either 4Gb and 8GB, or 8Gb and 16Gb.

Somthing (unfortunately) tells me that out large capacity iPod option is not going to be what most of us want on Wednesday...

You heard it here!

How would you change the iPhone?

Cut, copy and paste text. A microSD slot. Keyboard in landscape mode option for all text entry apps. Fix memory leak in Safari that crashes it if you haven't done and on/off cycle on the phone for a while. Color-coded calendars in Calendar app. A way to export and import Notes with Notes app. Category support in Notes App. To Do list that syncs with iCal To Do pane. Empty Email mailbox. Delete multiple emails at once. Some games...hell I'll pay well for some good games like Tetris and Bejewelled that would work great with the touch interface. A way to shut off the accelerometer in the iPod app so that when I'm walking with it and suddenly want to switch to the next track, I don't have to hold it upright and wait for the delay in switching back to portrait mode to do this function. 3G and GPS, but that is just a matter of a future hardware version.

Otherwise, you can't beat this thing. the build quality, materials, interface, lots of stuff. EDGE isn't all that bad either becasue of the software greatness. Compared to my TyTN, the web experience rocks, even without UMTS/HSDPA.

iPhone doesn't work with most 3rd party headphones

Jul 1st 2007 4:10PM (Engadget)
I have a pair of Shure E4cs and I just shaved off a minimal amount of the sheath. barely noticeable, and comes off cleanly with an Exacto knif or sharp scissors. Works perfectly now. Now I can return this stupid Belkin adapter I bought that sticks out 3 inches...

iPhone activations hosed until morning?

Jun 30th 2007 8:28AM (Engadget)
My activation failed and I had to restore the software in iPhone. After that, activation worked. Now i'm gold. This thing is really awesome... Posting from it now. The lanscape keyboard in safari is much more useful than the portrait one however.

Why does the winner have a Treo antenna? Maybe version 2.0 will have an internal one...
