Whats the big deal here? I'm sure the involved parties whose C.C. was put on the internet canceled those cards the second they found out what happened. And for the rest of those who have their credit card information stored on the Steam servers - don't most major credit card companies allow you to cancel any purchases that you can prove were un-authorized/not made by you? So yeah, its a big security breach and Valve will definitely have to do some soul-searching and send out some 'Sorry, it won't happen again' emails, but nothing that can't be patched up in a few days time.

is there a good source for what expanded universe books to read and which ones not to read (at least according to popular and tasteful opinion?)

i read the original timothy zahn and kevin j. anderson trilogies as well as a handful of the other novels from the mid-90s, but haven't really delved into the expanded universe after that.

i'd love to get back in - any pointers in the right direction?

not to throw my support in the executive producer's ring at all - but if steven speilberg or another big hollywood name is willing to put his name on the exec. producer line for a film, then i think that has a lot to say about what a viewer can expect from it. in some cases, i'd much rather see "from the executive producer of..." than boobs and violence stuck in a trailer that has nothing to do with a film.
