Geometry Wars is 'not going to stop'

Aug 11th 2008 6:58PM (Joystiq)
Xbox LIVE play would suffer from lag. Since whatever you do ingame would suffer from latency, those pixel-perfect piloting and shooting skills you really need for high scores changes much more to luck. I don't really want any form of Geometry Wars gameplay to change from skill to luck.

Well, that and keeping state of all those nasties, bullets, geoms and players positions between consoles easily would be technically hard.

Street Fighter II HD beta gets bandaged

Aug 8th 2008 7:27PM (Joystiq)
You can view the battles in 16:9, if you select it in the options. It views the action optimally, a slight stretch and zoom to ensure everything is clear. For the purists, you can view it in 4:3 as it was.

Original, or cropped to fit widescreen displays.

The Exhibitionist: Beowillyou or Beowontyou?

"what's the point of using actors for realistic computer-generated human figures if they're using motion capture anyway and the actors are pretty much going to look exactly like themselves?"

The purpose, I feel is to be able to visualize any environment a director wishes for storytelling purposes and keep it looking consistent.

This includes impossible camera moves and placements. The Polar Express had a great deal of these ingenious visual touches. Try pushing a 70mm stereo camera through all those shots in Express and Beowulf.

Anyway, Beowulf in 3D is pretty much everything I hoped. Stunning, just revelatory.

Hi,

I just wanted to add that this film is screening at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in August.

White Noise 2 Pulled From Release Date, Sent Straight to DVD

Couldn't stand the film. Illogical, thoughtless and fond of breaking its own rules.

I might as well pimp this article too, under the recent BFI re-release of The Wizard of Oz:

Review: Eragon

Right on, Scott. Vapid, if not unwatchable pap. Exactly the kind of film that it's hard to say anything substantial about, or care to ever see it again.

Glad I didn't have to write anything about it.

Sneaky Twee Brit Comedy

It was released over the pond ages ago. It scrapes the bottom of the barrel for laughs.
