The music and SFx remind me of eerie walks through the hallways of Wolfenstein 3D. I have a feeling this game will trigger repressed behavior in me or make me piss my pants.

Whatever happened to the old "punch in your reg code found on the manual"? Steam works great for me, but it's not the perfect solution for everyone. I mean, what about SP only games? What if I purchase a game from a store and my internet is out when I get home? There are going to be times where stuff like this happens. I know there are CD key generators, but it seems like there is a way to do it so that each unique disk really does need a unique reg key to work.
And for their dev versions of the game, they could do a "dev DRM" that requires each new dev build of the game to connect to their WAN and authenticate automatically before it will run (can do it in like 5 seconds automatically). That way when leaked versions get out they are useless off the WAN.
Hm.... just like Spore had that dev from the Civilization franchise (don't think it was Sid) as a design consultant? Announcing such a famous developer-as-consultant this late in development really doesn't mean anything to me except that their influence will likely be severely limited. But hell, maybe this is a game I would have liked anyway; I've never played Settlers. The only Sim games I really liked were the Egypt games and Stronghold games.
